Thought Highlands was going to breeze to a win after opening an eight point lead after Q1. Lloyd is so, so quick, and hustled back to cut the deficit to one at the half.

Juggs took a six point lead early in Q4. Birds took the lead back by one on a layup by Rickard with 1:59 to play. Lorenzen FTs made it +3 at 0:39. Intentional foul called on Lorenzen at 0:15 and Kabeya sank both FTs and Lloyd retained possession. Golsby made a jumper for the one point win in the final seconds.

Lloyd brought the press to Lorenzen. Lorenzen turned to pass raised his elbows and made contact to Kabeya’s face. Absolutely terrible timing for that to happen but was ultimately the right call. Kabeya made both free throws Lloyd retained the ball. Now down 1 Golsby drove was fouled on the shot and made both free throws to take the lead. Listerman had a great shot at the end just didn’t fall. Great game.

Did not see the game, so this is just a generic question….does the cylinder rule exist in high school basketball?

My question is why it was an intentional foul and not just a personal foul.  
 

I think the wording in high school is Intentional foul.  If this was a college game, it would have been a Flagrant 1.  Which would be two shots and the ball.

Could have been, but most of the time an elbow to the face results in an intentional foul.

It does not.  It would be great if it would because I see a lot of charges under the basket.

Then that is a bad rule.  Again he didn’t swing, he was bringing the ball above his head while also trying to ward off the Lloyd players attempt to foul.  Just don’t agree that it was intentional.
