I received this news last night. There are some things that have happened lately that seems to have led to this. I am still waiting for confirmation before any making any further comment.

ZB is correct, it was just confirmed to me this morning. It was told to me that they are pursuing someone to be the next head coach, but no agreement has yet been reached. Stay tuned.

So everyone, the Mayfield job is open, correct?

In my mind he is the only person that can step in right now and keep the wheels on the bus with what's been going on.  A new coach stepping into this situation is less than ideal.  Now there will be plenty of coaches who are willing because its Mayfield Football but you are really behind the 8 ball here.

From what I am hearing…it’s a pretty small group of guys that are interviewing. I’m not connected as much as I used to be in that area. I know Hatchell is thought of highly. I also know William Higginson (former player) recently came back to the Mayfield area and has been there for a few years after a stint at Trinity.

Jack Herron interviewed this evening. Heard it went very well. 

Herron was Glasgow’s DC this past season.

That is very intriguing. I’ve heard that the decision committee may be split on how to feel about him. Great young coach nonetheless, not sure which direction they will go in the end. 
 

It may be trending towards hiring the older, more experienced coach in the long run. But Herron would be a great fit from what I’ve been told. 

It appears that Coach Hatchell is the front runner for this coaching job.
