Anyone know why Belfry would schedule, at the last minute, TWO out of state teams to play tonight?  Yes, you read that right, on a Wednesday, their varsity is playing two different teams.  

That is beyond odd....but I assume there is a reason.  Every reason I could imagine is fishy (like burning suspensions), so I'm hoping it is something much less nefarious.  

They got in a fight with Prestonsburg their last game. They have a big district game tomorrow. Their entire bench cleared, so that was probably so those players wouldn’t have to sit the district game. 

I did see video of the fight they had in a game - I think it was Prestonburg game.  
 

And I would definitely assume there were suspensions from that incident.

Wow....what kind of message are we teaching young men?  Consequences matter, unless, of course, a district game would be impacted?  Wow! 

I recall there was a Western Ky team who had several suspensions and the KHSAA allowed them to spread them out over a few games so that they wouldn’t have too many gone at once.

I don't know if it violates the letter of any of their laws, but it violates all of the spirit of them.  Shame on the Belfry leadership pulling this nonsense.  

Side-note, how did Belfry only have two kids suspended, their entire bench (but one kid) cleared during the fight?

It does violate a rule. However, the suspensions can be spread out among players over several games. 

If you google the Prestonburg vs Belfry fight it comes up. Brobible.com has a good write up of it and the full game on video. with about 43:51 minutes to go on the film is when it happens. My opinion the kid for Belfry started it. Went to the well twice and the Prestonburg player had enough. Couple nice shots before he was swallowed up by the entire Belfry bench besides one player. Good discipline by the Black Cats players on the bench, but I don't know how none of the other four players on the court could not just react and join in the fray. Kudos to those players. Cops go in the pile along with multiple coaches.

This has happened all over the state and teams have opted to do the same thing so it’s not just Belfry, the leadership at Belfry supports the team just as others do with the circumstances.

If this has happened all over the state, I have certainly missed it.  

If you describe what they did as "supporting the team", we define a lot of those things very differently.  Which is fine, it takes all kinds.  I think they could have taught a message, that actions have consequences, but instead they went with "find loopholes".  All good, not the end of the world, but not for me.  

Joke of a program, making a move like that.

This is a failure by the leadership at Belfry.  Actions have consequences.  The leadership just showed their kids that they don't have to be accountable for their actions.  It was obvious that the players left the bench area.  Every coach, and every player knows what happens if you do that.  They chose to do it anyway.  If there was anything to the coach and AD at Belfry, they could have used it to teach a lesson.  Instead, they popped in a couple of games against some slack out of state competition so that a precious district seeding game would not be affected.  Great lesson about accountability there.
