I have never been to a game there, but I have always been impressed with Phog Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence. When the game is on ice and the Jayhawks have wrapped up a win, the students sing "Rock, Chalk, Jayhawk" and that is very cool. Still, in a huge game like tommorrow, Rupp is my favorite. Extremely intimidating.
February 10, 200719 yr I'd say that rupp is a tough place for a big big game but I'd say the toughest big game place to play is either Duke or UNC when they play each other. Those fans have pure hatred for the other team. It's fun to watch those two play because there is so much emotion put into each game!
February 10, 200719 yr Another tough place to play is Gonzaga's home court. Whenever I see a Zag game on ESPN that place is always going nuts. It is very loud, plus that is the only thing that school can cheer for, so that gives them an extra boost.

Extremely intimidating. :thumb: :thumb: On both statements. Phog Allen jmo is the #1 most intimidating place in all of college b.b. (including Cameron Indoor). Rupp is as well in a huge game. Just needs to be more like that in every game. I'll still rate Rupp anytime in the top 3 or 4 though.

February 10, 200719 yr We all know the big ones. But what are some of the toughest places to play among the smaller conferences? I'd nominate the Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse at St. Joseph's as one of the toughest. There are always a lot of loud, boisterous students and those bleachers on all sides come right down almost onto the court. I could also include the Charles Smith Center at George Washington in the same vein: they have the same type of bleachers that make it sound a lot louder and more hostile that the 5,000 seat capacity would otherwise indicate.
February 10, 200719 yr No place is as intimidating as Cameron, and I think Kansas would be #2. Everytime I go to a game at Rupp, I don't go away impressed. It is more of a wine and cheese crowd. IMO Rupp need to do what UNC did. They moved the students closer to the floor at the Dean Dome and it has made it more of an intimidating place to play.
February 10, 200719 yr Cameron Indoor Takes this one big time. You could fall asleep in Rupp it gets so quiet. They need to move all the old rich people and let the students surround the court then maybe just maybe Rupp could compare
