Tackle for loss by Reece Sims, huge play for the Aces.

4th and 13, LCA has to punt and the last one was blocked.  I would rush this hard.

LCA called timeout with 102 left.  It is 4th and 13 on the OC 43.  I assume LCA is punting. Again, I am coming after this punt with everyone.

Got the punt off, fielded at the 6 and immediately tackled.

53 seconds left for OC.

He had Maddox but threw it short.

LCA rushing three and Carothers threw it out of bounds.

40 seconds left, 3rd and 10 on the OC 6.

4th and 10, 34 seconds left.  Lots of hand fighting.

I loved when he called our games in the early 90’s! Awesome to hear his voice again!

Legend! Love hearing him calling games.

I worked with him back when Douglass was starting and was an assistant AD he is a great guy and a class act.

I take it back, conversion no good, I guess there was a penalty, anyone?

When the receiver went in motion to the right, he left the left tackle uncovered. The flag was probably late because they didn’t throw it until the pass was thrown. I don’t know why they didn’t get a chance to retry after the penalty though.

Threw it away basically, LCA ball, this one is over.

Lexington Christian Academy 33 Owensboro Catholic 28

Final.

Owensboro Catholic received the opening kickoff and went three and out.  LCA started on their own 34 and several Daven Hood runs along with two Tyler King receptions resulted in a Daven Hood 2 yard run with 514 in the first quarter to put LCA up 7-0.  OCath went three and out again on their second possession. LCA raced right back down the field with another great catch by Tyler King and the running of Daven Hood.  Nash Whelan snuck it in from two yards out to give LCA a 13-0 lead late in the first after a missed extra point.  Owensboro Catholic got one first down and then punted again to LCA with 48 seconds left in the first quarter.

Lexington Christian Academy started the 2nd quarter with a first down at midfield but their drive stalled and they had to punt.  Owensboro Catholic marched down the field running and throwing with a nice Luke Thomas reception and run to the LCA 15.   The drive ended in a Sam Pearson interception of Dremail Carothers at the 5 yard line.  After a quick three and out for LCA, OC started on the Eagles' 27 yard line and quickly scored a touchdown on a five yard pass from Dremail Carothers to Xavier Maddox to make it 13-7 LCA with 520 left in the half.  LCA answered right back with some Hood runs, a 29 yard pass to Sam Pearson and a 18 yard run for TD by Nash Whelan for a 20-7 lead with 339 left in the half.  Owensboro Catholic raced back down the field on the arm of Carothers and scored on a five yard TD pass from Carothers to Cameron Woodward with 150 left in the first half to make it Lexington Christian Academy 20 Owensboro Catholic 14.  LCA attempted a 37 yard fg to end the half.  The kick bounced off the left upright and was no good.  The halftime score was Christian Academy 20 Owensboro Catholic 14.

LCA received the second half kickoff and went right down the field on the arm and legs of QB Nash Whelan.  Whelan capped off the drive with a 35 yard touchdown pass to a wide open Sam Pearson to put the Eagles up 27-14 with 739 left in the 3rd quarter.  OCath went three and out on their next possession and LCA started on the OC 41 yard line.  The Eagles marched back down the field but fumbled on the 10 yard line giving the ball back to OCath with 435 left in the 3rd.  Owensboro Catholic drove nearly the length of the field until Daven Hood intercepted Dremail Carothers in the end zone near the end of the 3rd quarter.

After the interception LCA had to punt and Jude Evans blocked the punt giving Owensboro Catholic the ball at the LCA 16 yard line.  Evans wasn't done, he caught a pass for a first down to the 7 and with 920 left he powered into the endzone to make it 27-21 LCA.  Lexington Christian Academy moved the ball quickly and Whelan connected with Dawson Farmer on a great catch and run down to the OCath 11.  The Eagles capped off the drive with a short TD pass from Whelan to Conrad Hart to go up 33-21 with 540 left to play.  Owensboro Catholic passed their way right back down the field and scored on a 13 yard TD pass from Dremail Carothers to Xavier Maddox to make it 33-28 LCA with 318 to go in the game.  After scoring the touchdown Owensboro Catholic onside kicked but did not get it with 315 left in the game.  Lexington Christian Academy grinded it out but had to punt with 102 left in the game.  Owensboro Catholic started on their own 6 yard line and threw four incompletions turning it over on downs.  Lexington Christian Academy snapped the ball one time and downed it to end the game.

Congrats Lexington Christian Academy!  Congrats Coach Watkins!
