Kentucky vs. Florida Predictions

Featured Replies

It is going to take a monster effort from the Cats to beat the Gators. It is possible, but not likely.

Early prediction...Gators by a baker's dozen.

I think Kentucky can take them at Rupp. No, I'm not a Kentucky fan or anything, but home court does mean a lot.

Kentucky has shown spurts where they play really well and then other times where they look like they couldn't beat a Patriot League team. No offense to my Colgate Red Raiders. : )

I expect Florida to win, but if Kentucky wins by 10, I wouldn't be surprised at all and wouldn't consider it a big time upset. Kentucky doesn't have that real "BIG" win yet this year and now could be the time. Goodness knows with the UK fans on here that post during the game, I'm looking forward to it.

Our perimeter can match theirs no doubt, but it's the Gator inside game that gives me nightmares at night. Morris must show up on both ends.

The problem is that not only does Morris have to show up and stay out of foul trouble, Horford or Noah needs to have an off game. The guy who has to guard either of those two has to have a big game too(Perry, Thomas, etc.) and I do not see that occuring. I think UK's back court players will really have to be lights out from the field in order to beat the Gators.

Does anyone remember about 3 or 4 years ago UF came into Rupp ranked #1 and we beat them badly. Its going to happen again.

UK -84

UF - 62

I remember it and I was there and will be there on Saturday, but I do not see that happening again.

I was there and I had the best seats ever, they were center court about 7 or 8 rows back and I loved every minute of it. Unfortually I can't get a hold of tickets for Saturday.

I am really interested to see how UK goes at UF defensively.

Will they play man or try a zone?

Lee Humphrey is hitting 67% (49% on the year) of his 3's in conference play. Taurean Green is hitting 41%(44% on the year). So they must be identified on the perimeter.

Horford and Noah are doing damage on the interior.

UK had mega problems last year handling UF's high ball screen. Either the guards were hitting shots are finding the roll to the basket. UF passes the ball very well in the interior. In addition, you may have Morris hedging putting him into foul prone situations, and UK's guards having to fight over/under screens.

Florida is +9 on the boards. It is tougher to rebound out of a zone than man, and UK has to limit Florida's second chance opportunities.

So it will be interesting to watch.

Offensively, UK has to shoot the ball at a relatively high clip. They need Bobby Perry to make open shots as he did tonight. They need balanced production from their starting 5, and at least one player to really step up.

It is a tall order that begins a rather tough three game stretch, UF at home, then road games at Tennessee and Bama.

Hopefully, UK steps up to the challenge.

The pregame atmosphere should be fun with GameDay in attendance. Hopefully, the in game crowd will be fun as well.

Yeah, I'm hope we put a good show on for the game day crew, both during the game and at 10 that morning.

I certainly do and made note of that in the other thread. Florida this season though I believe are much better than in that year. They are experienced and may not let the Rupp crowd get to them as much. I hope that Rupp will be "shaking the rafters" and I believe that the crowd will. When the crowd at Rupp is really into the game and vocal there is not many more intimidating places for an opponet to play. There is no doubt that it it possible that the Cats can win this one but I think that the Gators will have too much.

Florida by 11.

Now, I would love for the Cats to prove me wrong on this one and pull within one game of the SEC East and Overall lead. GO BIG BLUE!!!!:flame: :flame:
