I've been very impressed with what Coach Stonebreaker has accomplished at Danville in less than a season.  And they will come ready to play, and won't be intimidated by Somerset.  They could certainly come into the Briar Patch and pull off a victory.  What gives me pause in that scenario is this: Meaux and Cruver seem to be they keys to the Admiral's offense.  As 8th graders last season, they were largely shut down by Meece Middle in an easy Somerset win.  I know it's a year later and they have certainly grown, gotten stronger and matured.   But they're not just going to against the Somerset freshmen that dominated their team last season. They're going up against the Somerset upperclassmen that beat Danville 42-10 last season.  Several of those freshmen play very little due to the older players being better.  I think that due to Meaux's speed and ability, the Ads will break off some long runs.  I just think they'll have a hard time sustaining drives.  I think Danville makes a game of it, but ultimately comes up a little short.  Somerset 35-14 in a game that isn't settled until the 4th quarter.

  • Sad to lose but if you told a lot of Admirals fans that they would have had a chance to drive and tie or potentially win a road game in the second round of the playoffs and that they would have won 8

Great points here.  Obviously Admiral fans would love to win - and I'm not one for "moral victories" - but a loss that is closer than the 42-10 game last season would indicate that the Ads are headed

  • Really appreciate Somerset having a live stream of their games.  And the stream is well done too!  Wish the Ads did the same!  I'd even pay a bit to get it so long as it had a score bug, commentary, a

I gotta go with Somerset here. It’s a great looking squad that has the potential to surprise one of the perceived “top 5” teams. Danville has been a great story this year and they will be able to really build on this for years to come.

I know this is probably a reference to RPI but if anyone has Danville as the favorite in this game that is a dead giveaway that they haven't followed high school football this year!

I think he's talking about Beechwood, Mayfield, LCA, Belfry and Owensboro Catholic.  They've been ranked 1-5 in some order all season.  Most people have them in a well above the rest of 2A.

Ha, I totally misread what he was talking about!

Danville keeps its close early on, but Somerset's ground game wears them out late.

42-21 Somerset.

Looking at Danville’s 1st round victory appeared Meaux did not play much….zero carries, 1 tackle, 1 conversion.  What is the story?

That was definitely NOT his stat line.  He ran for close to 200 yards and had 2 touchdowns.

Wow!  Great to hear he’s rocking and ready for the Briarjumpers.  Scoreboard stats just a little off!

Somerset 35-21.

Missed it by that much.

Incredible turn around year for Danville, but Somerset should handle things this week.  I think Danville scores some points and makes some big plays but don't see them being able to have nice long drives.  Somerset by 3 scores.

Danville keeps it close early, but Somerset pulls away late. 42-20 Briar Jumpers.

Just saw Scoreboard was updated to confirm DanvilleFan’s correction.
