Just using the information in this topic. The examples given in previous post have "pre" Feb 1 dates. So is it a case of they choose when to abide and when not to? 

It also seems the entire process has been chaotic.

1. Candidates telling everyone who has applied.

2. Unofficial hire tells everyone he has the job.

3. Seen on campus for all faculty and students to see multiple times.

4. Announcement being held up for a "rule" that seems to not be relevant except in certain situations.

5. Weights being held (which is not uncommon with a coaching change) by someone in the building. Which seems odd. It should be someone connected to players and program.

Just seems clunky. Which unfortunately is a common theme surrounding Scott sports and Kenton County in general.

Where did someone say they heard the hire tell everyone he had the job? I must of missed that post. I do believe you may have been the first to announce who the hire was on this thread. And again unless any of us on here are in the weight room during the weights we don't know who's running what. Feels like we are burying the program the school and the coaches before they are even given a chance.

I don't see it that way.  What I see is BGP has a bunch of very intelligent, informed members and the membership figured this one out.  It was the same in the St. Xavier thread and from where I sit, since I posted it first, the same in the Campbell County thread.  

Additionally I feel pretty confident that 95% of us want Scott to succeed.

I was simply asking BBHCEAGLE where someone stated on the post that they had heard him openly say he got the job in if that's the case then why are not just coming out and saying who has the job! An the second part of most is clearly saying none of us know what is going on in the weight room.

To answer both of your questions.

1. If I or anyone else here revealed or betrayed our sources, they wouldn't be "sources" anymore. Much less would those relationships exist.

2. If you don't think kids don't talk. Thus don't talk to their parents. Who talk to other parents about what happens in the weight rooms or locker rooms for that matter, you would be mistaken. 

I have simply given out the information as it is given to me. What you do with it or think of it is your choosing. I'm just on a high school football message board to discuss high school football and the things surrounding it.

The coaches haven't gotten a chance yet, you're correct. But as far as the school goes, and to a certain extent the program as an extension of the school, it just seems to be a story all too familiar from Scott that things are bobbled and blundered within the athletic department. Scott has had a titanic struggle to gain any real identity as an athletic program over more than 4 decades of existence, and this whole flap just seems to be another oh so familiar story from Taylor Mill.

The KDE is clearly not standing strong behind any alleged rules to hold off on new football hires until a particular date, so why is Scott choosing to hold off on announcing their hire if they've actually made one already? They may well be following orders coming down from the school district, but if so, that just seems like yet another reason to vote no-confidence in the leadership at the Kenton County School District.

My comments to date are not directed at the new coach. I personally don't know him and wish him nothing but the best!!

My issue has always been directed at the dysfunction surrounding the process, the way the administration handles things and the school boards wishy washiness. 

I would love nothing more then to see Scott get back to the success they had when Coach Campbell and Woolley were there.

I'm still a little disappointment that Scott did not hire Nelson Perrin, the last 3 Scott coach's were not affiliated with Scott and the season did not go as planned, I hope by not hiring a Scott legend doesn't backfire on the Scott administration.  I'm a fan of Scott and I'm still rooting for them and there knew Coach.

I think we need to move past the “Scott legend” part and think is he ready to be the HC? From what I’ve heard, people at all schools associated with him believed he was simply not ready yet.

While it's a different sport, he has been a basketball head coach before. Also he has been a coordinator as well. So while he hasn't been a "Head" football coach. He has lead not only as a player but a coach as well.

Just seems they missed out again. Which unfortunately has happened to them a lot recently.

Nelson Perrin is a 2018 Scott grad...he was the head freshman basketball coach at Holy Cross and has been co-defensive coordinator for their football team for the past year or two in addition to having previously been in the assistant coaching game for the past 6 or 7 years now.

Bishop Brossart just hired 2017 Brossart grad Jacob Martin as their head coach. He spent 6 years as an assistant under Coach Wiggins and then went to Pendleton County as an assistant/defensive coordinator for the last two years.

Looking at those two resumes, I don't see a whole lot of difference besides one school's willingness to trust a 20-something grad with the keys to their program and another school's unwillingness to do the same.

Food for thought....Brandon Smith was only 27 when he took over as head coach at South Warren, Keegan Kendrick was 27 when he became head coach at Bullitt East, Steve Lickert became head coach at Dayton when he was right around 26 years old, and Lynn Ray became head coach at Cov Cath when he was 28. Jacob Martin is right around 27 and Nelson Perrin is right around 26.

There have been plenty of successful coaches who took over programs while still young. My son graduated the same year as Nelson, and has been a Head High school wrestling coach for 2 years. You really never know when somebody is "ready". And even when you think they are, every year is a learning experience. Even experienced coaches make mistakes, and have to continually improve.

To me, I don’t care about age. Hire the guy you believe is best for your program. From an outside perspective, he had to have not interviewed well and sold his vision for the program, but I have no clue.

They have moved on from what I'm hearing? We all hear things and have opinions but I would say stick with the facts. Broussard just hired a young man about the same age as Perrin, the AD at Scott now was a young man when he took the Head coach job, follow his track record, the young man has been successful where ever he went, he also went head to head with the new coach and came out victorious.

Good look Eagles and Staff with this up coming season.
