From what I've heard the person running it works in the building at Scott, all I know.

And people wonder why Scott has issues getting and or retaining athletes despite having the best facilities in Kenton County, possibly all of NKY.

Interested for you to expand on this, if you don't mind. The current principal has been there for a year and a half, so I am not sure why he is catching strays, unless you are referring to the district. The Kenton County Board has told the "top" that they can't make a hire until February 1st so I am not real sure what you would want the administration to do?

I pose the same question to you as I did the poster after you. What is the administration at Scott supposed to do when they are told by the district that they cannot name a head coach until February 1st? I actually think that this seems pretty proactive that they are trying to get weights going while they wait until they can officially hire their new head coach.

Sure does.  And it's hard to take a school remotely seriously that has messed up football coach hirings as bad as Scott has. How do you have kids reporting to weights without a Head Coach?  That kind of messaging is just awful for the kids and the community.

You at least have some sort of message out there saying that. 

You could put out a Press Release saying..... "We look to have Coach so and so lead the Eagles next season but are awaiting Board Approval in February."  If the Board says, no, you can't do that (Which if they did say that, umm someone's getting thrown under the bus since the word has already gotten out) then you say "Scott has hired a new football head football coach.  Due to Board Policy (name the policy), we cannot name the person until February 1st."  And if the taxpayers don't like it, they can voice their concerns at the Board Meetings or vote new Board members in.

 

You can't just be tight lipped about something for a month into a new year.  You can't just keep people in the dark like this, it isn't right.

It wasn't a shot at any admin or coaches there now or coming in. Kenton County can only do so much. It's a bad look right now to run the weight room without the next HC but like you said (KC) can't do anything until 2/1/26 I legit did not know that. The only issue I have who is in charge of hiring the "guy" I personally think they missed again I could be wrong, we will see. Not a shot at anyone directly but it's me disagreeing with who hires the next man, that's it.

From my understanding, you are not allowed to even name a coach until February 1st. So, a press release with an intent to name would not be allowed either. Seeing as how Boone and Kenton seem to be the only counties in the entire state that are actually abiding by this, the issue should be with the board, not the administration. 

I think anyone can  understand the frustration, and I’m sure the AD and principal do as well. I guess they are doing everything they can on their end to move this forward as quickly as possible. They also have to be aware of the questions and criticism surrounding how the announcements or lack of announcements are being handled.

That said, if KCSD has made it clear that they cannot bend or break KDE law or district policy, then there really isn’t much more the administration can do publicly. At some point, they have to respect the rules and procedures put out by the district, even if that silence is unpopular. SK didn’t announce Joe Wynn until January 29th last year, so this isn’t without precedent.

They also aren’t required to tell anyone who is running weights right now. For all we know, the next head coach could already be meeting with kids, connecting with staff from last season, and having conversations with potential new hires behind the scenes. None of us on here truly know what is happening internally.

I do agree that it appears proactive to at least get weights going while waiting on an official hire date. Hopefully, if the hire is in fact Coach Trimnell, he’s being given the opportunity to set things up for success. And when the announcement is finally made, I hope the Scott community and alumni fully embrace him and support the challenge of turning the program around and building something everyone can be proud of.

IF, and I mean IF that is truly the policy, then how did this name get leaked?  Seems like a really good way to lose your job since only a few people would know who was brought in for interviews and who was offered.  

IF this is the policy, again, I have no idea if it is or not, why interview someone 2 months before you can name him and let him start his job?  There's so much here that doesn't make sense.  And you can just say as school, we have our guy, and an announcement will be made on February 1 due to whatever the rule is called.

Someone possibly let it slip. Or, he was seen on campus more than once. Administration and those involved don't have to keep him away from campus if he is considered a "volunteer" coach at this time. (I am not saying that is the case in this instance, just saying it is a possible loophole around not naming a coach and still letting him be invovled)

At the end of the day, the rule of February 1st is kind of silly, in my opinion, and no other district follows it. I am simply stating the current administration is not the reason that Scott has struggled with their football program. I happen to know that principal and can tell you that he is all about athletics, building Scott up into one of the best high schools in the area, and is all about the kids. So I am going to question anyone who tries to talk negatively about him, especially with him only being there for the last 17ish months.

Observation 

Fifteen public schools across the state have announced new coaches in the past month or so.
