Boyle County (5-1) will travel to Russell Springs, KY this Friday to take on the Russell County Lakers (3-3).

The Lakers are coming off of a bye week with their most recent game being a 58-21 loss to Green County. The Rebels are coming off a 14-3 win against St. X.

This is both teams first district matchup. Will the Lakers be able to keep this close or will the Rebels end it quickly?

I still have nightmares about the Lakers from 1979, and 1980.   Will probably need therapy on Monday from just walking back on the School property.

They have a new turf field now instead of playing on that cattle field.  Maybe that will relieve some of your anxieties.  Plus, Greg Popplefield won’t be running onto that field.

If it weren't already going to be ugly, RCs numbers were already low (dressing less than 30) but now they've had some injuries to some key players the past couple weeks. May be forced to have some freshman play their first significant varsity minutes this week. Not ideal.

RIP to the cattle pasture and leaning field goal posts. The new stadium's field was still being worked on while we were there two years ago. Much nicer amenities this trip.

And finally no longer having to play in the baseball field outfield.

No disrespect to the Lakers, but this should be a game where the starters get to rest early and the younger kids get a taste of the varsity experience. This game comes at a good time after playing such a tough schedule. There are always bumps and nagging injuries that need time to heal at this point in the season. Want to be healthy for the Lincoln game next week.
