Are we going to land Jai Lucas, PG?

Featured Replies

That pleased with our guard play? Like the fact that we dribble the shot clock out a lot and have no outside threat at the point in Jasper? Have it your way...

That is why Bradley is running the point alot more lately, and Meeks is playing....

Lucas would come to UK and make an immediate impact...He's a PG who can penetrate and dish and hit the outside jumper and has tremendous floor leadership...He is also quick on the defensive end and would get immediate playing time because of his in your face style of man to man defense...He also seems to have great stamina and plays like he's always fresh...I like Jasper, but, because of his lack of ability to score, Lucas would come in and run the show from day 1, imo....

I feel like we need to address our concerns, and that is by signing bigs. Lucas would have to scrap for minutes next year and I'm sure that would make him unhappy. All around it seems to make more sense to pass him up.

He will be a Cat! (it worked for football signing day)

How many bigs you wanting to carry? There is already going to be Carter, Stevenson, and probably Morris, and recruits Williams and Stewart. We are still trying to sign Patterson, and have a back up plan to him I assume, being Pettigrew or elsewhere. So lets say we get PP. That gives you six bigs at those two positions, and throw in Ramon Harris who could probably play some 4 as well. I'd rather get a guard out of that class than 4 bigs, like we had with this senior class. PP would make 3 true PF's on the team, along with 3 C's. Where I think we are lacking is having a true SF on the team, and wish that was what we were recruiting.

I think that if we could possibly get Lucas to commit before Patterson decides then we would get Patterson.

After seeing how his teammates passed him the ball you can see why he loved playing with Lucas so much this summer.

Interesting point. The SF is a dying breed these days. Most teams are going 3 guard or 3 bigs and the shooter/slasher role has been reduced. I agree that UK would be well suited to find a player to fit this role, but I don't see many options left...

Very true. BP was supposed to fit that bill, but ended up a 4 for most of his career. Would be nice if Harris could slide in there, but I havent seen enough of him to know for sure. If Jasper was more aggressive and we got Lucas on campus, then Jasper could slide into that 3 spot some as well, but it just wouldnt really fit him. Looks like we are kind of stuck with the undersized 3's, being Crawford and Meeks.

And that's where you can often get in a matchup bind. If they play well it's not much of an issue, but there aren't many teams that can exploit the weakness. Lucas is more important than Patterson IMO...

Don't know if I would go that far just yet, but I can see where you are going. I think PP's importance kind of depends on Randolph.

Lucas will not make an unofficial visit to UK as planned on Sat. for the Florida game. He has a game Sat. morning and he cannot get a flight that will get him to the game on time Sat. night. He hopes to make it to one of the last two home games.

^ I'd consider it a positive he's not at this game...

I hope the weather is ok for the LSU game.;)

I think thats 1 big thing that makes Florida so good. They have Corey Brewer, a 6-7 wing who can rebound, to inside, jump, shoot, play defense, and handle the ball well.
