Great Game congratulations Scott County.
Hope to see you again this year.

Good showing for Anthony Davis and the offense tonight. I don’t know that I’ve ever seen so much freshman contribution at BG. Kinda cool and scary at the same time.
When BG started stuffing things up better in the second half, Emongo made the difference. Outstanding player!

Thought the Purples had some tough breaks tonight. Happens.  No excuses, congratulations SC, and on to the last piece of this four game gauntlet with South Warren.

Sporting times guys said BG ended the game on a very quick long drive that came up just short of

I’ll rewatch the game, then give my takes on it.

3-0!

onto PRP.

Once BG gets Barber back they can be back at Kroger Field. Scott County looks like could get to Kroger Field as well.

Scott County had 515 total yards compared to Bowling Greens 348.

Timmy emongo had 265 all purpose yards tonight for the cards. Incredible player.

Just a good September football game!  Sometimes you just get beat and BG did tonight - Tip of the hat to Scott County!

For Scott County, Tim Emingo was the difference, and he is a special player.  But I was impressed with the Scott County QB; he made the throws, and they weren't the easiest throws to make.  Scott County's D tightened up just enough.  They are a good team, well coached and should go far this year.

For BG, most times I'm pretty disappointed with an outcome like this, but I'm not tonight.  We didn't have the effort we needed against OCath, but we did tonight.  We started a FR QB who wasn't even in the picture a few weeks ago and thought he was really good tonight.  Yes, there were some mistakes, but far more to like than not.  I agree with @BillNye; I have never ever seen this much contribution from a FR class for BG's varsity EVER!  While that bodes well for the future, we need them to grow up fast now because still a lot of starters out.  Was talking with another Purples fan and we agreed that the regular season needs to be about getting healthy for the playoff push whether that's 0 and 10 or not.  No need to rush anyone back now.

There were some other bright spots.  The OLine played their best game tonight.  I thought WR Ethan Kirkwood and RB Nick Graham and DE Malone played their best games as Purples tonight!  That is exciting for BG.

The BG defense was uneven at best tonight.  They were on skates in the first half, but they tightened up in the second half and only gave up the Emingo passes.  That was improvement and would bode well if BG could get back to another game with the Cardinals.

No time to cry now as a trip to Nashville Road approaches really quick next week.  Going to be a very tough game, as the previous 3 have been.  But in the end, I think BG got better tonight.  Yes, they are a work in progress, but they are coming and if they could get healthy - man can't wait.  But another player went down tonight and no word on his condition.  It's just going to be how this season goes.

Congrats Scott County!

Go Purples!

After rewatching the game I have a few thoughts

BG did an exceptional job of adjusting in the second half. Scott County was averaging 14 yards a carry late in the first half. Our longest run in the second half was probably around that number.

The frosh BG has at QB will lead them deep into the playoffs. Wether or not the majority of his throws were simple/short throws, he made the right read, had good timing, and if the pocket collapsed he almost always made a smart play with the ball.

Scott County became too predictable, and it won us the game. I talked about this in the prediction thread, the moment the players THINK it’s a sweep, Scott County has you where they want you. McKee will run the same boring sweep 8 times in a row if it means on the 9th time the secondary completely disregards the pass, leading to a wide open touchdown.

Both teams played well, but there is still a lot work on before they very possibly play again.

Just something about McKee’s “now you see it, now you don’t offense”.  Can make a D look bamboozled.

Coach McKee and I have been good friends for a long time. I sure wish they would quit running that "boring sweep" as well... especially when we play them in a few weeks. The way he runs the Wing-T, their execution...ELITE.

You are correct on..."the ninth time....wide open." I would argue that no one can get receivers open better than Scott County's offense.  I realize this is counter intuitive... but their offense is a dream scenario for a QB. A defense must strain hard to defend the run game, which is a huge bonus for the passing game.

Do you think it benefits you all more, or BG more, that you played in the regular season?

With both teams aiming at winning the 5A crown, playing early gives BG 1st person experience, and film to use in case the two schools meet in the playoffs.

Maybe BG plays someone else who runs a Wing T, I don't know, but actually playing you guys takes away that element of surprise and/or confusion that teams endure in the 1st half playing you guys. IDK, could be wrong.

A QB who has an arm, and can run the ball when needed is going to love his role at Scott County. It’s not for everyone, but those who love farm tough football will excel.

Scott County vs Anderson County will be a fun one! It’s a great test for your players and a matchup that can only make both sides better.

I would honestly say it benefits BG more. Scott County will only run 4 or 5 plays max that weren’t ran in week 3 come November/December. The only way Scott County can gain an advantage is if the weather on that particular day favors running the ball. Not to say Scott County can’t win again, I just believe we’d have to play them in a 17-14 type game next time.
