Lets here your preseason conference projections, playoff teams, Heisman hopefuls, teams that will exceed expectations, teams that you think will flop...all things about the upcoming season are fair game.

Let's get it started.

Big 12 looks to be a five way fight between Arizona St, Kansas St, Texas Tech, Utah and Baylor...I'm going with Arizona State and soph QB Leavitt to win the Big 12.

ACC is Clemson as a heavy favorite but Miami and Louisville ready to pounce if the Tigers slip, but the UNC sideshow will captivate the country in the same way Colorado has the last two years.

SEC looks to have Texas as an early favorite, albeit with an untested QB. UGA and Alabama are always in the mix but don't be shocked if LSU puts together a great season as they do about every 5 or 6 years and pull out the SEC Title.

Big Ten is Ohio State and everyone else. I guess Penn State would be the best bet to unthrone the Buckeyes, but I'm not counting on that.

It is Penn States year in the Big Ten! 

I been trying to get tickets for Penn State/Ducks game it is a white out but tickets are stupid expensive. 

Leading Heisman Candidates (Preseason), based on current odds.

Arch Manning (Texas, QB): As a redshirt freshman in 2024, Manning saw action in 10 games with two starts. He completed 67.8% of his passes (61 of 90 attempts) for 939 yards with 9 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Manning also rushed for 108 yards and 4 touchdowns on 25 attempts. He earned SEC Co-Freshman of the Week honors for his performance against UTSA, where he threw for 223 yards and 4 touchdowns while adding a 67-yard rushing touchdown.

Garrett Nussmeier (LSU, QB): In his first full season as LSU's starter, Nussmeier threw for 4,052 yards and 29 touchdowns. He completed 64.2% of his passes (337 of 525 attempts) with 12 interceptions. Nussmeier had a QBR of 80.0, which ranked 10th nationally. Notably, he led a 98-yard game-winning drive in the ReliaQuest Bowl.

Cade Klubnik (Clemson, QB): Klubnik completed 63.4% of his passes (308 of 486 attempts) for 3,639 yards and 36 touchdowns in 2024. He threw only 6 interceptions and had a QBR of 78.7, ranking 12th nationally. Klubnik added 463 rushing yards and 7 touchdowns on 119 carries. He led Clemson to an ACC title and a College Football Playoff appearance, earning two ACC Championship Game MVP awards in his career.

Jeremiah Smith (Ohio State, WR): As a freshman wide receiver, Smith had 76 receptions for 1,315 yards and 15 touchdowns. He averaged 17.3 yards per reception and had a long reception of 70 yards. Smith also added a rushing touchdown on 6 carries for 47 yards. He is widely regarded as one of the best wide receivers in the country.

Drew Allar (Penn State, QB): Allar completed 66.5% of his passes (262 of 394 attempts) for 3,327 yards and 24 touchdowns. He had 8 interceptions and a QBR of 77.5, ranking 16th nationally. Allar rushed for 302 yards and 6 touchdowns on 96 attempts. He led Penn State to the College Football Playoff in 2024. 

 

I think Jeremiah Smith has the clearest path to the Heisman. Kid is just electric every game and will put up his numbers this year, that along with some highlight making plays and possible heroics against some of their biggest opponents I feel that will set him apart.

Caleb Downs may be the best player in college football.  Now to win the Heisman he would have to put up incredible numbers in tackles, interceptions and punt returns.  Unlikely, especially with all the other good players out there.

Check out the ND/Miami tickets. Nose bleeds are going for $220 to $280 on the secondary markets. This is getting out of hand.

The Louisville disrespect Re: Clemson being the heavy favorite is pretty wild to be honest, especially considering Louisville dominated them in Death Valley last season. 

But Clemson is the ACC poster child...

Vegas has it Clemson, Miami, SMU then Louisville. They must not know about last year in Nevada.

I have recently become a fan of Pickle Dr. Pepper.  You can get it at Sonic, but you can also make it at home really easy.

1 16 or 20oz bottle of Dr. Pepper

1/2 tblsp or 1 tblsp of pickle juice, depending on how "pickley" you want it. (I use Grillos, just like Sonic does)

Your favorite cup with your desired amount of ice

Add the juice to the cup and ice then pour in the Dr. Pepper.   If you want something to chew on at the end, toss a couple pickles in there for later.

Sounds weird, but it is actually really good.

I'll take your word for it. I don't dislike dill pickles, but not a huge fan either. 

Texas enters the Ohio State game as a 2.5 point underdog. ESPN says that this is the first time a preseason #1 has been an underdog in the first game of the season going back at least to 1978.

Also, props to these two for scheduling this game and the return trip to Austin.
