The rivalry game that was just fantastic for years but unfortunately came to a sudden end was the NCC/Highlands game.

You mean NC and Highlands.

From mid/late 90’s thru 2000’s it was hard to find a better or bigger matchup throughout the entire mountains then Bell vs Rock. Every year the district was always decided between that game. Crowds we

Excellent point

Somerset and Danville had a good rivalry for a long time.

How come Cov Cath gets three classic rivals Beechwood, Dixie and Highlands? Everyone else has like one?

I'm going to go to a couple of rivalry games around the state this season. I'm already planning to see St X/Trinity. Which Cov Cath one will have the best atmosphere?

This was a series that had to end. The program had reached it's lowest point and Dale Mueller had Highlands on the way upward trajectory. Granted the last game in the series was 1998 and we all saw what that team did to a lot of people. It was for the better of both programs. NewCath went from 3A to 1A in less than 20 years and Highlands was embracing the spread offense and just dominating.

Cov Cath at Highlands 10/3 will have a Lorenzen playing in it. Plus Highlands and Cov Cath are in the same division again this year.

Sweet! I haven't made the trip to Highland's stadium for a game yet.

Pretty cool atmosphere for a high school football game. Parking is terrible.

So get there very early is what you're saying haha.

Too Bad some of the larger schools don’t like playing Beechwood because it doesn’t help their RPI, especially if they loose, it stinks it comes down to that because a match up with Beechwood and Highlands the last few years and going forward would be fun to watch.

Well I have it on pretty good authority that Highlands reached out to Beechwood to play and they chose to pass.  Anyone?

Speaking to a major decision maker at Beechwood on this same subject this past week I beg the differ.

Maybe the schedule didn’t match up, BUT can assure Beechwood “authority” wanted to play.

Ooooh he said she said, I like it. During the Mueller era this would not of been an even or slightly even matchup. Since then I could see it as a very even matchup.
