I think Ricardo and Holy Cross will be in the mix, maybe not favorites but they return a lot and Ricardo runs some really good stuff.

Yes he does and he should go straight to varsity IMO.

Really? On a very solid Highlands team that I think is one of the top in the region? I'm a huge fan of the kid but IMO going straight to varsity is a stretch and I have seen him play a lot of basketball. Could he give a few good minutes on varsity, sure. But playing nothing but varsity wouldn't do him any good at this point in his HS career.

Not going to happen.  Plenty of quality guys in front of him already.  Remember the frosh team won the region last year and several of them are hoops only guys.

Same thing I was thinking.

Thank you. Sounds like the kid has a bright future in Ft. Thomas.

That kid definitely has a bright future. I look forward to the Blue Colonels playing him the next few years.

Armstrong is a very good player, but I'd have to agree with @Honey Badger and @Jack of all Trades - hard to believe he'll get varsity time with all the talent that Highlands has coming back and a really strong sophomore class. Not to mention stud 8th grader Amil Wimzie.

That freshman class in Park Hills will definitely be looking to get their lick back from the freshman football season. In freshman and varsity, I will call it out right now that Cov Cath will beat Highlands this year in basketball no doubt.

The hardwood match ups will be close just like on the gridiron. I look forward to round 2 on the gridiron. I am gunning for it.

My point is he’s not a freshman player. I could see him starting on JV and getting mins on Varsity. Should have clarified.

I'm working on the 9th region season preview - anybody have any news about recent transfers or other impact players moving into (or out of) the region? I think we are all aware of Newport losing their two big guys (Starks and Turner) and Irvan Nichols (to Holy Cross). Cov Cath's addition of Myrick from Mason County, and Highlands adding two talented young players (Armstrong, Wimzie). I have heard rumors of Cov Cath adding another impact player and Newport bringing in some new players.

I hate to hear it but I guess Tayden Lorenzen has decided to stop playing basketball to concentrate on hitting the weight room and working on football 24/7. He said as much during the KSR interview earlier in the month.

I really wish he would reconsider, he’s so much fun to watch!
