LaRue County 33 Caverna 0 (3 innings)

Final from yesterday.

? | The only mercy shown was in accordance with the KHSAA rulebook, because the Hawks had none for the Colonels. Seventeen different LaRue players crossed home plate at least once and fourteen drove in one run or more. All that on just five extra base hits for the Hawks. Caverna has been outscored 158-0 so far this season. If the baseball gods are listening, maybe throw the Colonels a win or two this season, huh?

The Baseball gods are a fickle group.

Maybe just ask for a run first and then build towards a win?

True. They need to crawl before they can walk.

You feel for them, but at least they’re lacing ‘em up.

I can appreciate that Caverna is trying. But Caverna baseball is bad and has been for a long time. That said, though, at what point does this fall on Larue for running up the score? Step on the plate, bat out of order, do something to get some outs. 33-0 isn't helpful for anyone.

Larue's players were trying to get out. Larue had 5 runs earned on walks alone. They could have  intentionally batted out of order, yeah, but if you're gonna do that why not just go ahead and holler over to the other dugout "Hey you guys should just forfeit to us, dontcha think?"

Hart beat Caverna 27-0 in 5 innings couple weeks ago. Green Co. beat them 22-0 in 3 innings earlier in the season. The Caverna baseball program is just that bad.

I can appreciate that. I remember a few years ago, Larue let Caverna's pitchers intentionally pick off their runners to get out of the inning. I also was told today that the district voted to use runs scored as the tiebreaker this year, so you can't really blame Larue for putting up at least 28 runs.

To me that tiebreaker is absurd and just leads to something like this.

Baseball tiebreakers should be runs allowed.

State champions in 1961 and 1972 but that's getting farther and farther away.

It looks like that was just the first game of a double header?  It says the 2nd game was only 15-0 in 3 innings, so it looks like they figured a way to help get themselves out in the last game.  But 48-0 over 6 innings is crazy!
