se7ens Posted March 9, 2025 Posted March 9, 2025 Yamil Rondon hits the game winning 3 at the buzzer. Hats off to Holy Cross. It was a great game the whole way. 1 2
Honey Badger Posted March 9, 2025 Posted March 9, 2025 I would have liked to see Amir Henderson in the game for HC for just a few more minutes in the 2nd half. He played about half the 2nd qtr and was driving Rondon nuts. I could tell he was getting under Rondon's skin face guarding him all over the court. That was a gutsy move by Ricardo throwing him to the wolves (or wildcats) in that situation and I think he gave them some good grimey minutes. He did get in for about 30 seconds early in the 4th and did a good job making a good pass out of a trap that advanced the ball past half court but Ricardo must have seen something he wasn't comfortable with. I think he wanted to see if Henderson could come up with a quick steal.
Honey Badger Posted March 9, 2025 Posted March 9, 2025 Newport and Lloyd look evenly matched. I think it's going to look like a rock fight. Lots of bruises, maybe some blood, alot of bricks, alot of missing the target and alot of emotion. 1

When they met two years ago the game's emotion poured into the handshake line, and then the concourse, so I'm sure everyone in authority will be on high alert on Tuesday night. 2

They haven’t had a handshake line with each other since because adults can’t set a good example. Sad. 3

They actually did have one when they matched up this season at KOB in December. It went fine so hopefully things are calming down. 1

Rondon was also very disrespectful during the trophy presentation where Snapp had to correct him very loudly in front of the entire gymnasium.
Hollywood23 Posted March 9, 2025 Posted March 9, 2025 Starks was also similarly corralled after the Beechwood loss in the All A as well.

That is why I said fine instead of smoothly. I wouldn’t say it went horribly. The adults did a much better job that time around. 1
Breds82 Posted March 9, 2025 Posted March 9, 2025 So when I brought up Lloyd and Newport being to emotional to win the region, it’s instances like this. Instead of 100% focus on the game they also switch to talking to the crowd during said event. Snap may be an awesome person but the way he acts on the sideline carries over to the players and fans. Once someone is in Rondons head and he’s not getting his, he’s quitting on his team. 2
cincyswords Posted March 10, 2025 Posted March 10, 2025 A lot of Rod Snapp "experts" on here. Now I realize this is a forum for opinions so here is mine. Rod Snapp, 2 p's by the way not one, has one of the toughest coaching positions in Northern Ky. and has won a lot of games and has done a great job promoting the Newport program. He has built the program from a place that was pretty much hitting rock bottom. Players are held accountable in school and on the court. There are very few coaches in this area that could accomplish what he has accomplished at Newport. 3

Snapp is a very good coach, and he does have a tough gig at Newport, but that doesn't change the fact that he acts like a child at times on the sideline and his players feed off of it. The one thing that I do 100% agree with you on is that very few coaches could accomplish what he has. Not a lot of people have the patience, time, energy, and all that it takes to coach inner city young men/women. It is no secret that a lot of those students have a whole lot going on outside of school. I definitely tip my cap to him for that. 2
PP1 Posted March 10, 2025 Posted March 10, 2025 I like Coach Snapp, but the program was not at rock bottom when he sought the position, in fact Aric Russell led the Wildcats to the Sweet 16 the previous season. 1
