I fast randomly.  The last two days I have been on a 16:8 fasting schedule.

"The 16:8 intermittent fasting plan is a form of time-restricted fasting that may help with weight loss. It involves fasting for 16 hours per day and consuming all calories during the remaining 8 hours.

Suggested benefits of the 16:8 plan include weight loss and fat loss, as well as the prevention of type 2 diabetes and other obesity-associated conditions."

In short, I really like it (fasting) as a changeup and if anyone wants to try something different I strongly suggest fasting of some kind.

I follow the 16:8 intermittent fasting schedule, usually eating my first meal around 10am and my last between 5 and 6pm. I also typically do a nearly full fast one full day each week (usually Monday). On that day, I only eat fruit/raw, leafy greens (lettuce, spinach, chard etc), and typically only take in around 500 calories. I've found over the last 18 months that this schedule helps me manage both calories and my blood sugar. This does go out the window a few weeks out of the year such as when I'm on vacation, but it's really been easy for me to maintain, and I don't find myself craving food or sweets.

I hadn't done really any fasting previously but decided to jump into it this weekend. Finished my 72 hour fast earlier this evening. My primary reason for doing it was gut health and to see if it did seem to help with inflammation.

What are your thoughts so far?

I definitely noticed a big decrease in stomach bloating, started Thursday and noticed a considerable difference by Saturday after noon. I typically take melatonin frequently before bed. I haven't since Thursday and I've slept better than usual. I also take zyrtec and a medicated nasal spray, I am going to keep up with that,  but didn't during the fast and my sinuses actually seemed to clear up a lot as well. I don't drink caffeine typically other than a pre workout in the morning but I didn't seem to notice a huge change in cognitive stuff, probably because I don't do a lot of caffeine and hadn't had alcohol in a few weeks as well.

Overall, I think it was worth it. Moving forward it's something I'd consider doing either quarterly or semi-annually. In the future I may consider loading up on a bit more protein before the fast.

I do it. I eat lunch and sometimes don't eat until the next day at lunch time.

I've done both of these. I definitely don't follow it strictly, but I can eat lunch and then not eat again till the next day most times, if I wanted.

Right, not to sound like a bunch of "tough guys" but it is relatively easy to do.

You are always Johnny on the spot, good job!

And timewise for me my eating window has been more like 1pm to 9pm and it is almost 1pm, lol.

Just electrolyte powder in water and some electrolyte/sodium pills. I was using a powder called Nectar because it doesn't have any sugar in it.

You are tougher than me, no way on 72 hours.

Not as bad as it sounds. Any time I felt a bit of hunger pangs coming on I would down 8-10 oz of water and it usually subsided. I found myself randomly thinking about food a lot but that was about it. Biggest thing is staying hydrated since you aren't taking in food containing sodium like you typically would.
