Welcome Coach Dane Damron.  It is a great day to be a Greyhound!

I tasked Principal McCann with making a home run hire, and that is exactly what he did. 

Coach Damron’s extensive experience at the collegiate level will be a tremendous asset to our student-athletes, particularly those looking to play at the next level. 

More importantly, his focus on developing young men of character is what truly sets him apart. #parispride #theplacetobe #communityschool

Damron, a native of Grayson, Ky., began his collegiate coaching career at Eastern Kentucky in 1995. He served two years as a graduate assistant and wide receivers coach under Roy Kidd. Damron earned his master’s degree in sports administration from EKU in 1996.

Following a coaching stint at Morehead State, Damron moved to the high school ranks where he coached for nine years. From 2002-05, he was the head coach of Boyd County where he helped the Lions advance to the second round of the KHSAA playoffs three straight years.

Before returning to EKU in 2009, Damron served three years as Kentucky Christian University’s head football coach, which culminated with the school’s first-ever varsity football season in 2008.

Damron played collegiate football at Georgetown College from 1990-94. The quarterback was a two-time NAIA All-American and led the Tigers to the 1991 NAIA national championship.

He was also the head coach for 7 years at UVA Wise in Virginia. 

He was the offensive coordinator at EKU when my son played there.  Good coach.  

Dane's father was a professor of mine in college and one of the finest men I have ever known.  If Dane is anything like his Dad, this is an outstanding hire from a character & integrity standpoint. 

I remember him primarily from Boyd County, in 2002 he led them to what would be their last 8 win season until Evan Ferguson would lead them back there in 2022. The next year they had a tough start but pulled a massive upset of Bell County in the first round of the playoffs as a 4 seed, at Bell when they had Shawn Robbins and company. Bell would make the state semis the next year losing 15-10 to Highlands and look in the record books state-wide and you will see Shawn Robbins' name pop up a few times. He had five total seasons at Boyd, the last three he had some solid, competitive but injury-prone teams. That was the last time, until the Evan Ferguson hire, that Boyd County was competitive with rival Ashland in football.

Dane would go on to become the first ever head coach at Kentucky Christian University for their football team, helping to get that program off the mat. 

I don't know a whole lot about him as the time he was in the area was long before I got into broadcasting, but what I can get on here and confidently say is that he is very well liked. The players at Boyd highly liked and respected him, the coaching staff at Ashland liked and respected him and I would say they are not the only opponents that did. Dane Damron has meant a lot to football throughout Eastern Kentucky and I am excited to see what he will bring to Paris.

Great and surprising hire IMO.  Boys from Paris better think twice before they transfer to Bourbon lol.  He has head coach experience at HS and college levels.  He has college connections all over the country.  Coach Damron's son was playing at UVA Wise when he was fired as their coach after seven years.  His son transferred to Georgetown to play football.  Family packed up and moved to Georgetown.   Now he is the new coach at Paris.

That looks like a home run hire by Paris!

I did not know that @Randy ParkerI graduated from KCC then in 1987 and his father was mine minister until he passed in 2007. I am also good friends with his older bother who is now the vice-president at KCU. I also coached Dane in basketball in high school. It' a small world. 

Been a long time since the Damron family has been mentioned on bluegrasspreps. This is a diamond hire for Paris.

2001 for me.

I somewhat followed Dane's Georgetown career, but haven't heard of him in years.  Until this thread, I can't remember the last time I heard anything out of him.  I hope he does well.

His brother Donald was a very good football coach in his own right he was the head coach at East for several years in the early 2000's.

 I knew that.  I knew of both boys, but never really knew them.  Just their parents, both of whom I adore.

Does anyone know what kind of roster Coach Damron will inherit?
