Pulling for Raceland to get it done but my head says Sayre wins a low scoring game.

Likewise.. when I feel the game is close I tend to side with the team with the most guys capable to changing the scoreboard on one single play. I feel like Sayre has two of those guys that Raceland doesn't have.

That is a good way to look at things.  The deciding factor for me was the Pikeville result for both teams.  It may not be total apples to apples, but close enough. At the same time, Raceland winning would not surprise me.  Hopefully this is a great game that comes down to the last play.

Here is some food for thought!! Brock Coffman had 2 catches for 4 yards last game.

Defensively he had 14 tackles.

Telling you that offensive stat you would think Sayre lost… but instead they won by 3 touchdowns. Crazy!!

I am pulling for the little guy... Sayre Spartans. In just 6 short years Coach Pennington has this program in state title game.

Coffman is a player.

Would love to see one of the in-state schools take a chance on him. He's the kind of guy that is going to get better and better every year in college.

In my opinion, Raceland wins this one by at least two touchdowns.   The only thing that will stop this is Raceland's coaching.   They have just as good athletes as Sayre and Raceland's defense is on another level.  Sayre has not faced anything close to what Raceland has.  Please don't take this wrong, Sayre has a good team and it is amazing what that school has accomplished in a short time.  I know they beat Pikeville and eveyone is ready to give them the championship.  Pikeville was a shell of the team they was early in the season.  This game is gonna be fun to watch.  A big part of this game will be who makes the first mistake and which team comes out and plays like there is no tomorrow, because there is not!!!

While Sayre, named after David Austin Sayre, has existed since 1854 (Known has Transylvania Female Institute until 1885) their football program started in 2018 with former Marshall University and NFL quarterback Chad Pennington hired to coach the team.

Sayre had a football team from 1965-1976. They were coached by Dan Hill for two years and then Gerald Walton, brother of longtime Tates Creek coach Roy Walton, from 1967 until the program ceased operations. Walton posted a record of 56-34 at Sayre, winning 8 games in both 1969 and 1971. They twice finished third in the district (when districts were much bigger), trailing only Frankfort and Harrodsburg in 1970 and Harrodsburg and old Madison High in 1975.

Raceland is completely devoid of offensive stars this year. They're as team oriented as any finalist we have and blue collar to the bone. Sayre definitely has that "next gear" potential with Pennington and Coffman.

I expected this to be a transitional year for the Rams after losing loads of experience from the two previous runner-up teams, but it's turned out to be a program reinforcing season with the potential to become transformative if they can overcome Sayre's dynamic duo.

I'm taking this as a reference to Salmons' tendency for conservative play calling? Count me among those that would be pleasantly surprised to see the Rams throw caution to the wind this week. Raceland has scored nine points in three prior trips to the finals, so maybe there's a sliver of a chance Salmons goes against his nature.

You are correct.  Raceland has great coaching and they have done a great job this year and in the past.  Coach Salmons is a great coach.  He is even better at developing the you kids into great young men.  But, I just wish he would throw caution into the wind and let's see what happens.  There is no tomorrow, just go for it.  Win or lose, if it is meant to be, it will happen.  If it don't, at least there is no second guessing.
