Ohio State is very lucky for their ranking and Miami losing  their second game keeps them in at 12. I’m surprised Miami remained.

The ACC could be bringing three teams possibly. It would be crazy if they did. The B1G will be rewarded the most teams, as I expected. The loser of the B1G conference championship is likely in going by the rankings easily.

A little more can happen, but a couple other thoughts from me is that the Big XII champion is very likely out and I still don’t believe Alabama belongs. 

Following the CFP directions, this is what the bracket would be if it all ended today and conference championship games weren't played.

Who gets the 4th seed if this happens...

#17 Clemson beats #8 SMU for the ACC Title do they jump the winner of the Big XII game between #15 Arizona St and #16 Iowa St and grab the 4th seed?

That's all if we assume Boise beats UNLV and moves up to the #3 seed after an SMU loss.

A second ACC school would force the lowest at-large team (currently Alabama) out of the CFP. The only question is if SMU can lose and stay in the CFP.

The writing is on the wall. 

With all the hand wringing over teams with 3 losses potentially being in the CFP, here are the highest ranked 3 loss teams over the past decade in the final CFP rankings released before the playoffs and bowl season.

It's who and how.  Take LSU last year - their losses were to FSU (who was undefeated by the point of those rankings), at Ole Miss by six (a ranked team when they played and lost only to Bama and Georgia), and at Alabama (a top ten team).  Bama has an incredibly strong win in beating Georgia, and has a couple of ofther solid wins, but losing to Vanderbilt and getting absolutely dogwalked by a 6-5 Oklahoma team is what is drawing the most ire.  Maybe people shouldn't say no three loss team belongs, but THIS one doesn't at all.

Alabama has lost to three SEC teams. Those teams are #3, #12 and #14 in the conference. 

There is no rationale for Alabama being in, it's just another illustration of the joke that the selection committee is.

I don't completely disagree, but everyone behind them in the rankings is flawed as well. Of course if Clemson beats SMU and committee keeps SMU in, then Alabama would be out and the argument is moot.
