We are finally to the best part of the High School football season, PLAYOFF TIME!!!!!

You win you move on, you lose you go home for good.  This first round matchup pits the 2nd place team out of District 6, Highlands Bluebirds versus the 3rd place team out of District 5, the Collins Titans.

Collins comes into this game a very heavy passing offensive team with Soph Kade Goodin who has passed for 2,189 yards with 22 TDs and 10 INTs.  He really doesn't have a favorite target, he spreads the ball around to multiple receivers, with 6 different receivers having over 200 yds receiving...the receiver with the most is Senior Quinten Wooten with 508 yards.

If Collins does run the ball it is with their QB Goodin pulling it down and taking off.  He has 861 yards on the ground this season (avg 86/game).  The Birds secondary will be tested in this game with Goodin, what a great young talent for Collins to build on in years to come.

Highlands comes into this game after absolutely destroying their last 4 opponents hitting running clocks in all of them, outscoring their opponents 209 - 27 in those 4 games POST the loss to Cooper.  Litmer has really been slinging the ball so much better these last few weeks which will hopefully help the Birds during this playoff run.  He's tallied up 1,790 yards this year with 23/6 TD to INT split.  Seniors Jackson Arnold and Adam Surrey being his favorite go to receivers this year.  Unfortunately, I do not have the inside source on the health of Jack White who has been dealing with an injury the last few weeks and hasn't seen action since the Cooper game.  Which will mean the Birds will have to see Deven James and Gabe Williams pick up the running attack if Jack is still a no go....maybe someone will enlighten us with the status on Jack sometime this week.

HISTORICALLY speaking:

This battle will resurrect some demons where these 2 teams battled down at WKU in back to back State Title games in 2012 and 2013 splitting the Championship trophy in those 2 battles.

Highlands absolutely dominated the 2012 battle winning a lopsided game 47-0

Collins successfully got revenge the following year winning in 2013 in a close battle 37-34

Highlands is stressing to avoid long lines to purchase tickets before hand online, Highlands is an Eventlink school, so go on that app to find Highlands and you can purchase your tickets before hand using the app, $8 is the ticket price no matter your age, if you are a student or an elderly fan.

What's at stake:

The winner of this game will see the winner of the Woodford Co vs Dixie game, Home team will be the higher seed.....which means if Woodford Co (being the #1 seed in Dist 5) wins, and the Birds (being the #2 seed in Dist 6) pull out the win, the Birds will have to fly down to Woodford Co on Fri, Nov 15th....

According to the stats, Jack White hasn't played for Highlands since the Cooper game. 

Any word on the Collins QB (#3)? Looks like he went out of the GC game a few minutes before half. Seemed to be a non contact arm issue while throwing. Hope he gets to play. He is a real good player.

They're a big enough underdog as it is, but this could be a massacre if Goodin can't go. He's accounted for roughly 90% of their yardage and all but three of their offensive touchdowns. 

Anything on Jack White?

Collins is the most undisciplined team I've seen in 10 games this season, couple that with reliance on one player to generate 90% of the Offense output.  Blue Falcons coaching staff will not let Collins offense make reads and adjust at the LOS.  This might be the biggest blowout of the first round.  JV will get 2-3 quarters of playoff experience.  Highlands 90, Collins 0.
