Stats can be very misleading when you see the disparity in non-district opponents.  But, stats do have Bracken #1 in scoring defense at 6.7 pts per game, #3 in rushing defense at 43 yds per game, #7 in passing defense at 67 yds per game, #1 in sacks and about #10 in interceptions.  I only point these stats out to show these guys are not going to run and hide.  They will bring the house on D and offensively love Woodie Hayes football. Not to compare BC to CovCath, but the Colonels 495 rushing yards sure pointed out that ground and pound was the Tigers’ achilles.   Beechwood will out talent the Polar Bears, but I will be surprised if there is a running clock.  Good tune-up for Tigers.

I think I will give the Tigers a slight edge on this one.

I was looking at the Mayfield vs. Murray thread and adding the TP94 Power Ratings and realized that Bracken County is rated higher than Murray. That one surprised me:

Beechwood         71.34
Mayfield              66.42
Somerset              54.42
Bracken County         50.43
Murray              50.31

I think this will be closer than last year’s score was when Beechwood beat BC 41-0 but what does Calpreps think has changed between these 2 teams since last year for that big of a difference. I think BC will score this game but if this isn’t a comfortable win by Beechwood I may need to rethink their chances to compete for a title.

That was the first thing I thought, what is so different about this year according to the calpreps computer. So, here is what Calpreps projected for the game last year:

Scoring 9 points more per game.

I suppose you would have to figure Beechwood's 2023 stats too and then I am not sure.

2023 points = 451-161

2024 points = 407-139

Scoring 5 points less per game

Allowing 2.4 points less per game

So about 2.6 points worse per game this year.

That gets it to 39-15 ... which is not that bad a prediction and not far off the calpreps prediction.

Anything is always possible but I’d be surprised if Bracken County keeps it that close.
