I was on the phone with a buddy of mine last night and he asked what I figured Ryle would do against Simon Kenton this week. My response was "I get the feeling that Ryle is gonna score at least twice for every time Simon Kenton scores. Simon Kenton might score a few times, but realistically I think Ryle is probably gonna score six or seven times."

So I basically feel like Calpreps has this one bullseyed.

Ryle really hasn't scored alot on offense.

Ryle is averaging 31.75 points per game right now. They have scored readily in their two games against weak defenses, beating Campbell County (who's allowing 388.5 yards per game) by a score of 42-14 and beating Conner (who's allowing 346.9 yards per game) by a score of 46-8. Simon Kenton's defense is weaker than either of those, allowing 396.8 yards per game. My gut tells me Ryle ends up with 49 points on Friday.

Simon Kenton may have been able to come up with 49 points on two separate occasions this year, but that was against Dixie Heights in Week 1 and Mercer County in Week 2, and we've all seen how badly those two teams are floundering this season. The Neers might have scored an upset win over Ballard and had a decent showing against Great Crossing, but then beating up on Campbell County wasn't any big prize for their record either.

I've got a very strong suspicion that Ryle will have Simon Kenton's score at least doubled up by the end of the night on Friday.

I was looking at 6A stats to see why Simon Kenton's defense is bad and they are #30 in rush defense in 6A giving up 245 yards a game. Hard to win games when can't stop the run. Only way I see Simon Kenton having a chance at winning is for Ryle to have multiple turnovers and Simon Kenton score off of them.

Another factor is SK defense is on the field a lot, can’t get off without allowing a score and then SK’s potent offense scores quickly and then the gassed D is back out there again.  Hard to hold back the reins to run clock and give D a breather.
