Apollo Eagles (3-3) | Graves County Eagles  (4-2, 5A 10)

? Owensboro Victims Fight For Playoff Seeding

• These two have combined to face a murderer’s row of WKY heavyweights: Bowling Green, Paducah Tilghman, Mayfield, Owensboro Catholic, and Owensboro. The Red Devils are the common opponent, holding both Eagles squads to six points in each of the last two weeks. The winner here could have the inside track to the D1 #2 seed, meaning no first round road trip to Bowling Green or South Warren.
• Max Johnson leads the charge for Apollo, trailing only Cam O'Hara and Deuce Bailey in passing yards among 5A quarterbacks.
• Graves County smothered Apollo's running game in last year's 14-7 win by the far west Eagles. Apollo also had multiple touchdowns taken off the board with penalties.
• Can Graves fend off Apollo again if they're shorthanded? Top playmaker Lincoln Acree has been sidelined for a couple of weeks and leading rusher Denis Marrs reportedly exited last week's win over Madisonville-North Hopkins with a lower body injury.

Series History ?: Graves County leads 13-3 since 1998 | The Eagles won nine straight from 2008-2016, several in blowout fashion

What's interesting is both Apollo and Graves give up a lot of receiving yards on a per game average but both are at the top of 5A in interceptions.  Apollo with 9 and Graves with 8.

I’d say up there with Owensboro’s maybe even better.

I like Apollo in this game as long as they can clean up special teams miscues. QB Johnson and RB Board for Apollo should have a big games and prove themselves to be a little to much in the end for an injured Graves County. I wouldn’t be surprised if either team came out victorious. A blow out by either team would surprise me though.

If Graves has Acree and Mars out that will be a big advantage to Apollo.

If Acree and Mars play it will be a great game.

How is Apollo’s secondary? Feel like the games we won (Mayfield and even Madisonville in the pouring rain) our big receivers were able to exploit the secondary. While the games we lost (Paducah and Owensboro) that wasn’t the case.

9 Interceptions on the season with a loaded schedule as well.

Read where Acree is playing? That should be a big boost from Graves Co. If he plays it will be interesting. If he doesn't play it will be interesting again.

Also heard Mars (RB) is out too?

If either are out it hurts Graves Co. If both are playing that helps Graves Co. alot and tip the balance towards them.

I believe Mars is out for the season.

Acree is set to play in this one.

This should be a fun game to watch. Excited to see Acree play again.

I lean Graves in this one but should be a battle.

Board with 3 scores tonight -

Lots of playoff implications here tonight. An Apollo loss all but assures the Eagles go on the road to Bowling Green or South Warren in the first round. A win keeps them in the running for second. A Graves County win puts those Eagles in the drivers seat for a playoff home game with their only remaining district opponents being Marshall and Muhlenberg, although Marshall has shown some improvement.

Apollo up 14-6
