Short answer, probably not better than those teams. However, they are capable of beating any of them on a given day.

The top 5 ranked conference champions get in automatically.  There is a world where a 4 loss ACC Champ FSU could be ranked behind SEC Champ, BIG 10 Champ, Big XII Champ, Mountain West Champ (Boise St) and Conference USA Champ (Liberty). In which case they would not make it in.

Now I know that's a long shot, but it could happen to any Power 4 Champ if you have a couple undefeated teams from non-Power 4 conferences. 

Touché. I suppose I’m oversimplifying but let’s just say that even with the experience of last year I consider it so far fetched as to defy all logic that any of the power 4 champions would be excluded. But yes, technically possible.

I agree. I'm glad the spots aren't guaranteed though. I'd hate to see a 4+ loss champ from any conference get in.

FSU will have a good season and improve each week, Ga Tech played over their heads, but nice win.
