I would agree with this.

I think that gap will shrink significantly in 25 and 26 though.

I agree with this too.  Losing Rodriquez, Pitzer and Reeves is huge for CCH.

The young guns will be fine and fight back though, may take a year to settle in as when Harney is a Senior I think they'll be a force.

I do think Boyle likely loses to the Ohio team even though I'll pull for the Rebels.  That would set up an interesting game at Scott County the following Friday.  Boyle is better but back-to-back road games in tough places will be interesting.

Boyle going to Cleveland to play St. E is such a baller move.  Got to respect it.

I agree CC’s best years are in front of them.  Unfortunately this season is 2024.

MaxPreps high on Boyle this year.  Hope we can prove them right.  IMG_4584.jpeg

Who Ya With!

Boyle is absolutely loaded.  They are probably the best team in the state this year.  I wish they played Trinity or Frederick Douglass because those are 2 schools who could maybe beat them.  I also think Tilghman is going to be very good this year so they could possibly give them a run in 4A.

They play Douglass at home.

My bad, I guess I should have looked at their schedule.  I still think Boyle is the best team in the state but FD is also loaded.  That is going to be a great game.

For Taylor County to get out of the second round they would have to beat Boyle or Corbin. I imagine we all agree that is unlikely. Especially now that Smith is an FD Bronco.

I agree with @theguru, at first glance Boyle is considerably better than the rest of 4A.

Tilghman looked unimpressive in the passing league that I saw, given the hype. I can't imagine they are better up front than their skill players. I agree with a previous post: Tilghman will roll until they have to play someone who forces them to be disciplined, and then I don't expect them to get past that.

I predict the gap between Cov Cath and Boyle will close significantly this year.

I'll also go out on a limb and say that Corbin will be a shell of what they have been for the past two years.

They have the best OL prospect in the state of KY, c/o ‘26, 4 star 6’6 300, #175 in nation. For as flashy as they were last year hanging however many points they wanted to, they won their games in the trenches. Very physical ball club with a lot of team speed. They gave Cov Cath all they wanted in the rock fight last fall, I assume it’ll be the same recipe this season for the Tornado.

As for Preseason, no doubt Boyle County is the top team. I think you would have to move Paducah Tilghman up to the 2cd spot above Covington Catholic because of graduation. I think after that I would have to go with Franklin County. Franklin County always is in the mix in the 4th round, and I don't see this year being any different, the question is can they get through that 4th round game. I think the next couple teams are very similar, all having graduation but still contenders to make a run when it counts. that's Covington Catholic, Corbin and Johnson Central and I'll add Ashland to that group now that they are in 4A. So, preseason for me I'll go:

1. Boyle County

2. Paducah Tilghman

3. Franklin County

4. Corbin, Johnson Central, Covington Catholic

5. Ashland Blazer

As always, we will have to see what each team looks like during the season and 3-5 teams are just all capable to beat each other on any given night. I will add, Boyle will probably be better this season than they have been the last 4. I agree with Guru. I don't see anyone in 4A playing within 3 Touchdowns of Boyle in 2024. I'll add this, please pick against Boyle as we play pick em. I'll take the points. ?

I always pay close attention to what @Cheese thinks (you should too) because he is so, so good in our Pick 5 Contests year after year.  With that said, I would swap out CovCath and Franklin County putting CCH at #3 and FC in the mixer with JC and Corbin.

One more thing, assuming @bugatti thinks Boyle has a chance to win in Week 3, everyone may get a chance to pick against the Rebels.

Boyle has 3 games that are different than last year that will effect their RPI.  A week 1 win would be more RPI points over week 1 in 2023.  Same for week #2.   My question is If Boyle was to lose week #3 to out of state team would they get less points than they did over a winless 2A Danville team that did nothing to help Boyle's RPI?  Still don't understand RPI and out of state teams.

Week 1  for 2024 #2A LCA while 2023 was (out of state)Gibson Southern   24>23

Week 2 for 2024 6A Bryan Station while 2023 was #2A LCA    24>23

Week 3 for 2024 St. Edward while 2023 was a winnless 2A Danville squad.  ?

The other 7 games are the same.
