It was an illegal screen!  This whole “you don’t call that in that situation” mentality is crazy to me!  I’ve watched multiple angles and you can clearly see her throw her hip and shoulder into the girl while sliding her foot over in front of her.  That should be called whether there is 4 seconds left or 40 minutes left.

It was a foul and should have been called as it was.  And your coach friend is correct.   Doesn't matter if it's 40 minutes left or 4 seconds.    The one complaint I have about officials (In basketball in general and not just this game or the tourney) is held balls.   99% of the game they have multiple people grabbing and falling to the floor and wrestling for possession before the call the held ball.   In the last 2 minutes if someone barely touches it, they blow the whistle and go to the arrow.   Let them keep fighting for it.

Right, be consistent.

No one addressed the fact that UConn didn't block out on the missed FT. If they had rebounded that miss, called a timeout, they would have had the ball in front of their bench correct. You could watch Auriema's face when that fundamental error occured.

Yep, that was massive. It took a hard bounce, but they would have been able to advance the ball had they secured it.

Yeah.   It's why we can't have nice things.

Once again, my faith in humanity is not restored.   Gabbie didn't commit the foul, nor did she call it.   Grow up joe citizen.

The hate is pervasive in our society. Everyone hating on others for just about anything different than the way the want it to be. Name calling. Threats. Conspiracy bulloney. Social media is a scourge on society.

I just watched a 3 minute YouTube video on setting a good screen because I wanted to see if he mentioned what would be called as an illegal screen.  He did in fact say that spreading the feet excessively wide, more so than shoulder width and having the arms crossed with the elbows out would both be called as illegal screens.

From The Athletic:

Iowa’s 71-69 win over UConn on Friday night in Cleveland set a new record for the most-watched women’s college basketball game in history ?

The game was viewed by 14.2 million people and peaked at 17 million viewers.

And in my opinion, whatever the numbers are, the numbers are low, way low.

I was in a well established bar watching this game.  The bar had live music that was good but they had this game on every tv inside and outside and there were numerous people watching the game on every tv.  There is no way to account for this in the ratings.  In my estimation, the ratings were double what the numbers say.
