Per Jason Frakes Courier Journal:  For those not aware, Newport star Tay Kinney suffered a pulled hamstring in 9th Region final. During Monday's KHSAA teleconference, Newport coach Rodney Snapp said the team has been practicing "as if he's not playing" in the Sweet 16. "Big bonus if he's cleared." Stay tuned ...

I wish the kid the best.  It stinks for him and his team.  Even for us fans.  I wish him the best.  In my opinion it’s highly unlikely he plays.  That picture of the team after the ninth region finals.  He is on crushes and he is wrapped from above the knee to the groin.  Pretty obvious hammy injury based on all the reports.  Pro athletes with elite trainers and conditions don’t return from those types of muscle injuries in ten days.  Very unfortunate but I would shocked to see him play at a level that could help his team while dealing with this injury.  I hope I am wrong, but the optimism around him playing reminds of the Aaron Rodgers narrative that was floated all fall.

Any of us that have ever had a hamstring issue know how delicate they can be.

Here is to hoping everyone is healthy and participating! 🍻
