  1. From a close source in Newport. He once Yamil comes back from Puerto Rico he will be moving into Newport. I also heard from same source a young man from Pittsburgh is joining a local AAU team in KY or OH looking for a high caliber team. He sat in at a Newport Practice and loved what he saw. He is being advertised as a left Handed Tay Kinney. If these pan out Newport will reign supreme over the 9th region again. Especially since Cov Cath’s coach is being removed.
  2. Confirmed that his father is banned from all Cooper events including Graduation
  3. Anyone else hear Yamil maybe transferring. I am hearing talks of Newport. Looking to enroll this school season.
  4. Newport’s Kinney will play. But beat Campbell regardless of if he does or not. Covington and Jackson will be to much. Starks and Turner will consume everything around them the rim. If Anderson and Silverton get hot it might get ugly. Lowe can get you a quiet 8–10 points as well.
  5. Newport 56 CC 43 If Campbell plays zone it will be a low scoring game with Newport winning. If Campbell plays man or anything else Newport wins by more than 10 points. I do not see a scenario where Campbell wins
  6. Sleeping on Newport. Newport gets the rematch with Trinity and Crossing to bring the Championship to Newport. Hearing some really good news in Newport from a very reliable source.
  7. Sleeping on Newport. Newport gets the rematch with Trinity and Crossing to bring the Championship to Newport. They will do it with or without Tay Kinney. This Newport Team is built different.
  8. Play defense. Newport makes things happen in space. So I love making the opponent play up. Until shot clocks are a thing in KY high basketball it’s a solid move.
  9. I was thinking the same Kremchek does an amazing job with Athletes
  10. Just an observation: Yamil kid is a poor sport. I get talking trash but to attempt to go straight to the locker room is sad. I did witness his dad get into it with what looked to be a Cooper fan. prayers for Tay! Hope the hamstring heals quick. Jackson and Covington put that Newport squad on their back. really need to see Silverton and Anderson taking shots and not hesitating so much..
  11. Seems like a stretch know several bigs dogs out there with 20+ winning streaks. Great Crossings and Newport to name a couple.
  12. Wasn’t a fan of the not shaking hands at the End. I did not think the game got too chippy. half the team was heading to the locker room before the final buzzer.
  13. Poor choice of the word transfer, what I meant to say was enrolling. I don’t know the kid so I’m not very sure if he could help the varsity team at Newport.
  14. I’ve heard that the Starks kid that’s going to be a freshmen next year, was sitting on the bench at Newport’s scrimmage vs St. X and Cov Cath. Is he transferring to Newport that anyone knows?
  15. I don’t think they can replace Miller, for what he did with the ball, with his back to the basket, rebounding and many other aspects of the game. I think the biggest thing they will need to do is take the workload/scoring off the Kinney kid, I think the Taft transfer DJ Jackson and the Covington kid can do so. The one thing I wonder is will they be able to rebound without the presence of Miller doing the majority of the rebounding outside of James Turner. My opinion is James Turner is going to have to be tougher and stronger to pick that slack up.
  16. I had reached out to a family friend that works at the school, he asked around yesterday and he got back with me, Newport has received clearance from the KHSAA. Deshaun Jackson is 100% eligible to play at Newport.
  17. I could be mistaken, I believe the only one that came from Cincinnati or Holmes would be the Covington kid. If I am wrong, I would gladly like to be informed. I had always thought the group that is at Newport was there in middle school.
