If you have to pay one solider a 40,000. signing bonus plus his salary, they will soon fiqure out that they could get 3 soliders, with no signing bonus with a draft. To get 92,000 enlistments over the next few years should not be a problem. To get current soliders and guardsmen to reenlist might.

January 24, 200719 yr Do you think they will bring it back ? The draft will only be reinstated if there is political support to do so. There will only be political support if the U.S. is engaged in a protracted war that the public believes in.

January 25, 200719 yr Our military is designed to fight a two front war according to the GOVT. However, we could not do that right now. Will the draft be brought back? Depends if we go to Iran or not. I know one thing, nobody in the military is for a draft. You DO NOT want somebody watching your back, who doesn't wanna be there.

I view it as my duty to serve my country if I am indeed drafted (this is of course assuming one would be reinstated). I would have no intention to dodge, whether I agree with the cause or not.
