January 22, 200719 yr Except the students aren't employees, and are complaining about a perk that is given to them for next to nothing... Maybe they should just not show up at all. It seems clear the team is there more for wealthy hangers-on than for actual students who attend the school of the same name. I can't blame them at all for feeling like they're treated like red-headed step-children, especially when you consider skyrocketing tuition costs. It's not like they don't invest in the school.

Anybody that doesn't show up when they are given a ticket, because they don't think their seat is good enough, isn't much of a fan anyway. Tuition is NOT the purchase of tickets to sporting events, as everyone knows. And, the athletic department would cease to exist if not for the wealthy "hangers on", like the ones that just donated 30 MILLION DOLLARS for the new practice facility.
January 22, 200719 yr Another thing that makes Cameron so tough is the fact that it generally averages around 95 degrees in the building during a game.
January 22, 200719 yr That kind of reasoning is the same used by bosses who decline raises to their employees, saying the employees should be kissing his feet just to have the job. That's a terrible analogy. Employees work for their raises. If they don't show up, they're not going to get a raise, right? Well, currently the students don't take all of their tickets, which is kinda like not showing up for work, right? That said, why should the students get a 'raise?'

Do you think maybe the reason why they do make it cheap for students is since they are already putting so much money into the school for tuition???

Hard to believe by all the posts on here that UK's record in Rupp is better than Duke's in Cameron. UK don't need no Cameron, we have the Seaton Center.

Do you think a kid spending 40k a year on tuition at Harvard complains about their basketball program, or the seats available to them? Probably not. Because they are there to get an education, not watch basketball. I suppose that's the difference between UK and Ivy League School students though. One group is there to get an education, the other wants courtside seats to basketball games.

January 22, 200719 yr I know for sure. Do you really? How? Or you just saying that so I think you really know...:sssh:

What employee expects a raise for not showing up to work? You know what I meant …
January 22, 200719 yr Let's not kid ourselves into thinking Harvard is an equal draw as UK. Far more demand for choice UK seats. That's not the point. The point is they are there to get an education, first and foremost. Anything else is just an added bonus. Like it or not, all the school HAS to provide is the education. Basically if UK basketball was terrible this wouldn't even be an issue. The student seats for UK football aren't any better, but not a single word is said about that. Yet.
January 22, 200719 yr C'mon now. What employee expects a raise for not showing up to work? You know what I meant … What students expect courtside seats when they currently won't use what they have? UK's of course. That'd be like you not showing up for work 4 days during a 2 week pay period, then asking your boss for better hours because you don't like what your getting.
