I think the point is there are D1 players on both teams.  All made plays. You obviously happen to think the Cooper D1 players are superior to the Birds players and you are certainly entitled to your opinion.  HS football in NKY IS blessed with amazing football talent and the upcoming years will be fun to be a part of.

Best of luck to the remaining teams in the state.  May you finish your season healthy and strong.

That was not his point, and was obvious because this was his second attempt at putting down a few players from Cooper. He also did that in the prediction thread too, so definitely was not the point he was making, and was now his second time even saying something as he did that in the prediction thread too.

Not a single person would have said a word if he talked up the talented Highlands players. Because everyone knows Highlands team was very talented and would agree.  Benke definitely should be a Mr. Football candidate with the numbers he put up this year. Geisler is a beast at running back. I forgot his name but number 5 is a stud at WR and defense. Then absolute studs up front on the line.

What a great game with a roller coaster of emotions for both teams! Two great teams on the field tonight, and literally came down to the very end. Didn’t matter the cold weather, both teams left it on

This was a hard fought dog fight of a game. Have we forgotten how many times Highlands/Cov Cath games went the other way from what happened in the Reg Season. It’s almost a little bit of a curse to win the Reg Season game since you find yourself having the mindset of well we can do it the same way as last time to win.

At the end of the day this was a great game with a ton of great players on both sides! Someone had to lose, unfortunately for me it was my Birds.

Great post. I know someone mentioned it in the update thread. This could be the start of a nice rivalry between both schools.

Cooper is 3-7 in their last 10 meetings with the Birds, and most of that has come against what a lot of folks would call the "down" years at Highlands. This is a nice run for the Jags but let's keep things in perspective.

No doubt there, I am already ready for the rematchs next year.

Here is some perspective: Highlands graduates 25 seniors, Cooper Graduates 12 seniors, 3 of which play on Offense and Defense, and 1 kicker. Cooper returns 8 starters on offense and 8 starters on defense.

Hence, this is a "nice run". Cooper might clip Highlands again next year... but the development of a rivalry... history would suggest otherwise.

If you ask Highlands fans they never have had nor never will have any rivals. That's why everyone loves them so much lol.

GO BIRDS!

BEAT COLONELS!

no rivalry here….. LOL

I think the problem with a potential rivalry with Cooper is the fact they might jump back up to 6A in the near future, but until then these games are going to be ?.

If I was in charge at Cooper I would never jump up again, the only way I am moving up is if I am forced to by the numbers.

Hmm so should a lot of those Highland’s wins not count then either, since most of those wins came in the “down” years for Cooper?

Two of the years now where both Cooper and Highlands had good teams, Cooper won. In fact the last two times now Highlands has made the state semi finals 2015 and this year, Cooper has gotten wins over Highlands in those years.

So Cooper has only had one win over Highlands during Highlands “down” years. While most of Highlands wins over Cooper, have came over Cooper during their down years. Which even that one other win for Cooper, came in a down year for Cooper when Cooper only had 3 total wins that year in the other year they beat Highlands.

Just trying to help keep things in perspective. Since apparently you didn’t like it being mentioned of this possibly becoming a rivalry.

That would be the only way Cooper ends back up in 6A. Which it will be interesting next alignment for Cooper, Conner and Dixie where their enrollments put them.

I don't think it was Cooper's in building decision to move up. I believe it was either KHSAA or Boone County Board of Education Central Office.

Thanks!! Looked ok I guess. Little drift but didn't influence play.

Highlands has seen plenty of challengers come and go in NKY who claim to be the "new rivals" of the Birds. Heck Conner beat the Birds twice in one year in 2019. And in the end, it always comes back to the Birds and Cov Cath and then the flavor of a two-three year span. Teams circle Highlands on their schedule. Highlands only circles one team on its schedule.
