Cooper 21 Dixie Heights 14

Final from Union.

Good game, fun broadcast.

Tough loss for Dixie!!!

  • Author

Cooper miscues kept the game close.  Two fumbles inside Dixie territory.  Armani Gregg took a hard hit to end the 3rd quarter.  Gregg’s movement impacted a Dixie comeback with the limited mobility.  Cooper capitalized on big plays all game and will host a first round playoff game.

Their '23 season summed up right there.

You're not wrong. I feel like I've read that same thing in 4 or 5 of Dixie's final score threads this season.

I was thinking those Dixie players are going to have a lifetime of memories from this football season.

I wouldn't want to play Dixie in the rain.

Great game Cooper. Thank you @859RadioI listened to you guys while at the game and went back to watch big plays over.

Two good teams going at it. Congrats to Cooper. What a season of really tough losses for Dixie.

Couple observations. I am having a rough time understanding the unsportsmanlike penalties. Beach #3 scores, spins the ball nowhere near the other team, flag. Alexander #4 two point conversion, dances, no flag. No consistency there. The latter came at a key moment in the game. If you're a Dixie fan, officiating is at the forefront of why they lost. (it's not)

Offensively was tough sledding and more than likely the reason they lost. Hats off to the Cooper Defense who did just enough when they needed to.

Dixies defense is their heart and soul. Forced several turnovers, kept O'Hara uncomfy all night he clearly was flustered and took some shots. Defense played well enough to win.

Dixie defense forced 3 turnovers in the second half. They did everything they could to win. Dixie offense was embarrassingly simple tonight. Once the QB couldn't run, that was all she wrote. If I'm a Dixie coach, I'm putting #8 in the backfield and running behind the big fella.

One thing of note, there were exactly zero holding penalties called tonight against either team.  Rice (dixie) was held numerous times as were Alexander and Baesel (cooper).

The difference in those penalties is the Dixie player held the ball up in the air PRIOR to crossing the end zone. That will get you a penalty every time I have seen.
