Does UC win a game the rest of the season?

Featured Replies

They won't win another game this season. UCF was their best opportunity because they aren't beating Houston/West Va on the road or Kansas, who is a top 4 team in the league.

The struggles have nothing to do with the coach. They simply don't have the depth to compete right now. Compound that with being very undisciplined (they were undisciplined under Fick as well, which is why it's hard to blame Satt) and it is a recipe for disaster.

This was going to be a transition year regardless, but it has been a much more difficult transition than I anticipated.

Standing on the sidelines yesterday pre game I heard a UCF coach look at the UC DB group and say "They're much smaller than I thought".... Just one example that this roster is not set up to compete physically right now in certain areas.

Really refreshing to hear a KNOWLEDGEABLE fan comment on their team's struggles. With graduation, the portal, and conference affiliation it was quite obvious this would be a tough year.

They've put 17 guys in the league over the past 3 years.... There's very few programs in the country that can lose that much talent over a 3 year span and continue to compete at a high level.

Fick saw the shape the roster was going to be in this year and bolted. Not a knock on the current players or roster, but they simply don't have the talent or depth to compete at a high level right now. I'm willing to give Satterfield a pass on year one because he had to add over 20 transfers to complete the roster.

If we are having this same conversation 8 or 9 games in next season, then I think you can point to the coaching staff as the issue.

Good take.  Coaches know when they are leaving and many times leave the cupboard bare.  This seems to be the case in this situation.   Because of his lack of success at Louisville and Brohm having a huge year in year one, I am somewhat concerned about Satterfield but agree he needs a full off season of recruiting and hitting the portal hard.

I'm not as worried about the future. They are in on some high level guys in the 2025 class and have a solid 2024 class coming in next year.

Can't have another Emory Jones type season from your QB next year. Turnovers and poor qb play have absolutely crushed them this season.  Off season development of both Brady Lichtenberg and Brady Drogosh is going to be extremely important.

Looks like UC answered the question quite nicely with a really good road win at Houston.

Congrats to UC on the win, but I watched part of that game.  Houston, despite their record, looked really bad at home.

Scott Satterfield and his staff had a really candid meeting with the team Sunday after the UCF loss. Heated conversation between the coaches and players where a lot of guys were held accountable for being undisciplined throughout the previous few games. True freshman CB Rayquan Adkins made his first start against Houston because Jordan Young wasn't doing what he was expected to do on or off the field as a leader and responded with arguably his best game of the season. That is encouraging.

UC got really efficient QB play from Emory Jones. That was the difference compared to other games. Defense was also able to force a few turnovers. They have been one of the worst teams in the country to date in turnover margin.

The frustrating part about this season is that there's a few games that they probably should have won if not for undisciplined play and mistakes. (BYU, Baylor, UCF, Miami)

Will be interesting to see how they respond to success this week. West Va is a winnable game.

2 years ago, I was at the ECU/Cincy game in Greenville, NC. Cincy won the game with ease, and there were 4 Cincy fans in front of me, saying what they would do in the playoffs if they got in or in a Power 5 Conference if they got in. Well if memory serves me will, they were destroyed in the playoffs, and their first year in the Big XII has not been kind. I do hope they rebound, because as a WVU fan, I want them to be good for not only the conference, but hopefully to create a rivalry game, since we currently do not have one in the conference.
