Every year all the attention seems to be on LCA. Meanwhile, Beechwood has won state championships in six of the past seven years and beat LCA in two of those championship games - teams that were supposed to be unbeatable.

My message to LCA - you better get it done this year because Beechwood is young and almost every key player will be back next year. QB Clay Hayden, RB Flaherty, top 3 WR's et al are all underclassmen. That is the #1 QB in 2A and 4 top 10 receivers in 2A- all underclassmen. Add players next year from a very good freshman team. This year is LCA's best chance. Better get it done this year.

Not too often, if ever, that a team has the most highly recruited QB in the state and the reigning 1st team all-state RB on the same team. Along with 6 other kids with D1 offers. I understand everyone trying to discredit them on their past but this seasons team is this seasons team. They can’t help what’s happened in the past.

How do you figure that they are all 4 top ten receivers? By catches I guess?

I think whoever come up with this ranking is ?. Mayfield at #4?  No way OC is ahead of them. Beechwood maybe.... but no way Owensboro can nor will hang with Mayfield.

Correct. 

Erdman and Fryman are #2 and #3 in 2A in yards. Cusick and Flaherty also each have 244 yards receiving.

Those stats were compiled against the second best SOS in 2A. Only LCA has a better SOS than Beechwood in 2A.

Good measuring stick on that this week with Mayfield playing Henderson County the week after Owensboro Catholic played Henderson.

I definitely have to say what Beechwood has done through the air thus far is amazing.

You get to add Belfry to the 2A mix starting in 2025. Man, talk about a loaded class. Should make for some memorable playoff matchups. 

The top 4 are clear and you can make arguments for and against all 4. LCA is at the top IMO. LCA has proven that they will give up points and the other three teams can definitely score and beat LCA on a given night. This is just my observation: LCA is getting a lot of deserved attention, Mayfield is good and has a lot of typical buzz and OC has a lot of hype the Los year. Meanwhile Beechwood has a new coach and some new faces but just keeps doing their thing. I feel like BW is just flying under the radar and could somehow “sneak” in and win their like 6th in 7 years.

LCA will continue to get great players every year through transfer means.

This is very true! LCA will continue to bring talent. Brings another aged argument to the table: Private schools should have their own classification like most states do.

The KHSAA rules for all schools are the same.

Exactly Guru! Students in KY can go to any school they want - public or private.

Add in that there aren't enough private schools in KY to make it an option anyway.

Even if there were enough, I am opposed. Let everyone compete together.
