Nick Saban, arguably the GOAT of college football coaches, is in all likelihood nearing the end of his career. Afterall he just dropped a few million on a new home in Florida.

Rumors on the internet saying that he already has told close friends weeks ago that this is his last year. Most of those rumors seem to be emanating from internet haters as nothing is out there from a source that I'd trust.

So could this be it?

Maybe next year after a year of expanded playoffs?

I could see him hang on a bit longer, if he truly felt he had a team and staff to win one more title. I also wouldn't be shocked if he announced after the Iron Bowl (if Bama is in the playoffs) that he's done.

Saban turns 72 next month.  I'd say Alabama fans should enjoy however long they have left with him and not be surprised if he decides to retire any time.  With that said, if he stuck around until 2027, that would land him at 20 years even in Tuscalusa.

When the wins decrease to a point that the money stops rolling in.

Programs money and any money he makes under the table as long as they are winning.

Never heard of a high level coach getting money under the table.

I don't know if you call it under the table or not, but there are a LOT of fringe benefits that the IRS is unaware of at any high level.

Like what kind of stuff? I'm sincerely curious about that.

Like staying at a friends lake house or beach house, or Wyoming hunting retreat etc. without said friend being around.  Perhaps you were given a ride on another friends jet to reach your destination as well.

Kind of tough question to answer. My guess is that it’s sooner than later, but could be wrong. My guess is after this season and next maybe. Whenever he does, who does everyone believe Alabama goes after based on coaches in football now?

As for his replacement, I'd say it will most definitely be someone from his coaching tree.  That is a very long and distinguished list.

No person in life has fallen up more than Lane Kiffin, so this would make sense.

Kirby has built as big an empire on his own...

Jimbo doesn't have Bama roots and hasn't lit it up at A&M

Sark will build something special at Texas and has more resources arguably there than Bama.

Lane would be next...  That is just my thinking, and you are right, he has fallen forward a lot, but I also think he is a good Coach.  He was just a brat until he came to Bama and worked for Saban.

To answer the original question, maybe today during the weather delay.

Doesn't seem like the OC or QBs are up to the task this year. Defense is soft...Saban has to be pulling his hair out.
