9. Ryle at 4A #3 Covington Catholic

10. Central Hardin at George Rogers Clark

Simon Kenton should be 9th. 

With Trinity playing Bryan Station and Frederick Douglass first two games they will either vault up in the rankings or not. St. X plays Male on 9/1 so big early season matchup there.

This has to be the most parity at the beginning of a 6A season I can remember.  Gonna be a great year!

And when was the last time any 6A poll didn't have one of the Big 3 at the top?

Reading the tea leaves both but all the teams at the top (again tea leaves) look pretty close.

A little of both?

I'd lean towards giving FD more credit than saying Louisville is down. Trinity obviously hasn't been themselves, but I think everyone else is where they normally are. I'm loving the parity to be honest.

You could spin this a number of ways to justify each of the top five being #1. Most have the right mix of strengths and weaknesses. I think Bryan Station starts out in the best shape with all of the experience they have coming back.

And I agree, parity in 6A should make for the best big school season in a long time.

I feel you. I haven’t paid as much attention these past couple of years so I was curious.  I knew Freddy D finally sealed the deal last year but to see them move up to 6A and be the #1 team in 6A is absolutely HUGE for Lexington HS football.

Based on what they did last year and what they have returning, they are Top 3 AT WORST in 6A to start the year, and I have no problem with them being #1 until somebody else proves they deserve it.

Yeah the Lexington hype machine is just on overdrive man. Everything will get straightened out by Labor Day weekend!
