Much of it is probably race related, but I think a lot of it is sex related. Keep in mind most people tuning in have watched 14 minutes of women's basketball their entire lives and the perception is females handle themselves differently than guys.

Again, I think the irony of it all is Reese had a poor game. Had she shut down Clark or dropped 35 then the taunting would have computed more from a pure competitive standpoint (think Richard Sherman).

I love that Reese is leaning into it on social. WBB needs this! Plus I like her looks so maybe it is jading my perception ?

I agree with the bold.  I watch very little women's college basketball (other than this weekend) but I watch a little bit of fastpitch (I enjoyed Texas and Oklahoma this weekend) and some Lacrosse and a bit of other things here and there.  To half of your point, one of the reasons I like women's sports is because the play is fundamental (my opinion) and professional.  The women always seem so team oriented to me and it is refreshing.

Also on Clark, I felt like she achieved "Larry Bird status" almost overnight and I wondered what the pushback would be if she/her team failed.

I completely agree on your point about it being sex related.

Folks had a problem with that because he was doing it to Brady.

IMO some of this selective outrage is definitely gender related.  People have a hard time seeing women act like the men do and will never be comfortable seeing that image.

IMO a lot of this selective outrage is also race related.  Folks can try to dismiss the racial component all they want to but at the end of the day there are thousands of people who cannot stomach the sight of a black person talking down to or disrespectfully to a white person.  Even more so if the person is a beloved white woman.   Like it or not there are still people in this country who demand that black people know their place and act accordingly at all times.

To dismiss the racial component is being naive of our present day times in this country.

I don't like any of it no matter who the sender is or who the receiver is.  With that said, it is part of the game and people need to get over it.

I love the trash talking.  From all sides.  I wasn’t mad when Caitlin did it and I’m not mad at Angel when she does it. It’s just part of the game when it comes to competitive sports.  Even more so at that level.

I work in a factory where people talk trash to each other about their quality of work.

Far as I can tell talking trash is a part of society.

I make a distinction between trash talking (which I do like) and "sign language."

Some of the trash talking (among friends) that goes on in the bars I hangout in is epic.  Just this past weekend me and three girly girls just tore each other up over all kinds of personal, sexual, and gross things.  Then we celebrated with the devil's lettuce and we all thought we were the most awesome people on the planet. ?
