They are never better than Oldham County, that is no surprise. (This year maybe)

But, as strong as either NO or SO are each year, I am not sure that it would give them many more regional appearances. 

If in the 31st, they would be in it every year, but you could say the same for almost every other team in the region outside of the 31st. 

The 32nd would be iffy, they might have a couple more appearances. 

Beat 4 teams that are gonna be in the region tourney this year. Beat 4 teams in the region tourney last year, and it would've been 5 if they played Gallatin. Just a ferocious 30th district. "Should" SC have made the region tourney more? Sure. But its hard to be critical with the overall product being the best its ever been over any stretch of time.

I’m not sure how this turned into a thread criticizing SC, but I just went all the way back to 2010.

Spencer had a run all the way to the 8th region championship game in 2011 where they lost to Oldham County.  Then no appearances again until 2019 where they lost in the 1st round. That was their last appearance.

North had a losing record two years when they lost to OC in finals. The region was not good and the regional tourney was a joke to be honest.  Spencer had a very good team that year. I don’t think Spencer would dominate this district, I just think if you look back 4-5 years and see their performance you’ll see that that Spencer would have done just as well in the Oldham district. Spencer’s district is deeper than the Oldham district and deeper makes it harder IMO.

If the region wasn't good then why wasn't Spencer in the region? This is no hate on SC, they have a great program, and I surely expect them to be in the tournament next year. But, any other district is a stretch to me. The 30th is good yes, but before Woodford Co., there was a good amount of time with just Collins, and Anderson Co. off and on.

Ha.  The name didn’t mean anything, but a quick search tells me that was the Spencer County fan someone referenced in a post earlier today.  You had to give that guy credit - he was steadfast in his fandom!

Not trying to defend my coach but...... We played OC, NO, SO, Grant, WV, Owen which are ranked as the top teams in our region not in our district.   Coach Steiner and Coach Burns have worked on dates but it can be tough with the travel and other commitments.  Bardstown, North Hardin, Bullitt East who are some traditional programs.    Don't think the soft schedule mantra holds water.  I am sure you can point out this team or that team we should have or should not have played.  Your agenda seems personal and having witnessed almost all of those games I am perfectly happy with our program and its direction.

I think Coach Burns is one of the most respected around the profession.  He takes what he has, has created a brand that fits his players and they've won a lot of games.  Unfortunately, that brand is susceptible to losing in one and done games because you have to be making the 3 ball.
