Also, most if not every year Collins and Woodford are going to be more talented. Woodford has only been in the 30th for 4 seasons now and their first two they were just an average or below average team with records of 17-16 and 8-12.

Very true, @ConverseAllStar said it best, I believe Spencer most years lacks size and depth to really compete year in and year out with the traditional powers. 

With all of the people moving into Spencer Co in recent years, I’m surprised that they haven’t developed the depth.

Correct, but before Woodford arrived you still had to deal with Anderson county.

The 29th has been a three team district for ever for all practical purposes and I can’t think of a year in recent history  when all the Oldhams were good. It’s been pretty much OC and one other for a long time- now it’s north and OC. A few years back it was south and OC. 30th is undeniably deeper by a wide margin.

True but those two years that those good Anderson Co. teams beat Spencer in the opening round of the district tournament Spencer had defeated them in the regular season games.

Also during those times there was a guy on here from there each season that Spencer was the class and the best team in the district and would have a great shot at winning the region, but he is no longer on here. lol

30th is very good no doubt, but Spencer would probably only make regionals consistently if they were in the 31st.

Lol I do remember that fella. I believe the biggest thing that holds Spencer back in district play is their lack of size at most positions. The few times I have seen them play they seem very small compared to the better teams.

Yeah, I remember him well, also stated Spencer had 5 D1 players.  I'm guessing he left us when his son got out of school.

The post was referring to Spencer County making the region if they were in any other district.

I can’t think of many years where Spencer County has been better than either of the teams that made the region from the 29th.

At one point years ago they were small enough to be an ‘A’ school. They have grown tremendously over the years

If you were doing an off the bus draft last night you would have taken the 1st five kids from Collins. Spencer had it going for part of the game. Their ball movement was good. But they got beat when the ball quit moving and Collins 1 on 1 defense picked it up to close out the game.

Not sure I agree with that- obviously subjective. This year they beat South and Oldham so they would have had a chance. Last year- doubtful as north and OC were good. Year before that very possible- they were good and south and north weren’t. Year before that also very possible.  Hard to predict what never happened but I’d say they definitely wouldn’t have fared worse but good chance at least one of those years they would have advanced out of the Oldham district. 

Spencer has never had an actual big man. 6'4" is about as tall as they come in SC, and even that is rare.
