Bally Sports

Are the Reds going to be on Bally Sports this year?  if not what will they be on ?

I'd be shocked if they were on Bally for the 2023 season.   Bally has been trying to drop their MLB, NHL and NBA coverage across the country.   These things are all headed to streaming services eventually.  Will Apple or Amazon be willing to pony up the cash to stream these leagues?   Time will tell.

I have Bally to watch my Timberwolves…. It sucks. As do the TWolves, but that’s for another thread.

Is this link accurate?  I use this site sometimes for sports on TV each day:

Cincinnati Reds Game Today on TV2023 Cincinnati Reds TV Schedule Today. What channel & time is the Cincinnati Reds game on TV today and tonight? The Reds games are broadcast on Bally Sports Ohio, ESPN, TBS, FOX, FS1, MLB Network, Peacock and Apple TV+.

And if you look at the list at the below link it lists the games as being on Bally:

Nearly all of those games are blacked out in Somerset on YouTubeTV. Even games on MLB Network are usually blacked out.

I just got a message from YouTube tv that they’ve been unable to come to an agreement to carry MLB tV this coming season.

That sucks, but all I get are out of market teams anyway. The Reds are always blacked out.

MLB's blackout rules are wacky and almost draconian. They pretty much blackout games for whatever market you are closest to, even if it's 4 or 5 hours away. And some areas have up to a half dozen teams blacked out. With very few Nationally Televised games, it can almost impossible to watch your favorite team regularly.

It sure doesn't help them build a fan base.

Most every baseball fan I know is a fan on the team they grew up watching on TV. That happens less and less.

I know blackouts are there to help "drive" attendance. But with so many games, it's impossible for someone to attend every home game in person, especially if you live more than an hour away. It really shouldn't be so difficult to watch your favorite team play, and as you mentioned, it actually hurts the fan base and likely hurts attendance in the long run.

MLB Network as well.  I was looking for a reason to drop YouTube TV... found it.

Prime is in discussions to purchase a stake in the parent company of Bally Sports. I'll be shocked and excited if I can watch the Reds on Prime any time in the future.

That would be way better than my experience the last couple of years.
