Um, er, 😳

They more than doubled the margin after the game went to a running clock....did they make any effort to just slow down a little?

I wasn't there....I don't know....for all I know, they only shot 30 footers after halftime, but they all went in, anyway.    But this is a really hard score to justify on the surface.  Under almost any circumstances.

Here's the CAL roster on KHSAA:

I count fifteen kids on the roster.     According to the stats, NINE of these 15 played in this game.

The other six kids - that's 40% of the roster, for the mathematically challenged - have to be asking themselves "What does the margin have to be for me to get in a game??????"

Had to take a look at the CAL's stat sheet again, because some schools don't add a "game played" on Riherds if someone doesn't score or rebound (may be a feature or a bug). Idk, may be the case here.

I've tracked girls score differentals a little while and the gap between girls haves and have nots is wide.

Any given week, particularly in the first half of the season, there are about a dozen 40+ wins statewide. A handful of those may be in the 50 - 80 point range.

Earlier this year ~ Manual beat Presentation 54-1. Francis Parker forfeited to Manual on Tuesday. I don't blame them, the Lady Crimsons beat them 97-7 last year. Sacred Heart beat Highlands Latin last month 86-9.

In these cases nobody really talks about public-on-private or private-on-private "crime." j/k Sometimes the talent level is just not comparable.

At least in some sports you can get mercy-ruled to end a game.

Both the above mentioned are district games.

The HAVES are required to play them. It does no one any good playing those games but the only way around it is to not play them and then not seed the district.

You are correct on the gulf widening and I have no idea how someone would go about correcting it. Good players want to be part of good programs and that leads to the talent discrepancies.

I pay attention to the Louisville and surrounding counties primarily. It looks like many of the Have Nots (someone else’s term) in the 6th region are scheduling amongst themselves and some formerly downtrodden teams have nice records.

All points well-taken Owl...and I certainly hope that all the CAL girls got in the game on this one.    The KHSAA stats don't seem to indicate that, but the KHSAA online stats are also often very suspect.   To your point, though, I do note that all nine of the girls listed as having played did have at least one "stat" - even if it was a missed shot.   So perhaps the other 6 did play, but just did not register in the stats.

In which case I certainly withdraw my comment, above.     As usual, you raise a valid point.

I can't speak on anyone else - but FWIW, I know in the Manual games listed above (Pres and FP last season), the starting 5 played maybe a quarter and a half in each game.

Sometimes it's just a mismatch

I've said many times on here that as a coach, there's little to no chance I pull my starters before halftime. If a coach does that and it's still this bad, then so be it.
