Final @ DCA. The 45th is tough. Garrard paid extremely tough tonight. Made a lot of 3s and made DCA uncomfortable. Back and forth all game.

Not a fluke. DCA was healthy. Hats off to Garrard and their coaching staff.

Shot selection/decision making very questionable late for DCA. Playing as they were down, and in a hurry to take shots.

That’s exactly what cost Garrard a game with Lexington Christian last Saturday. Nice to see them make the improvements to get the win this evening.

DCA takes some bad bad shots, they play selfish at times. Coach Cooper had the perfect game plan against DCA and they hit shots. Garrard played 2-3 Zone the whole game and made DCA beat them from outside. Dut is a special talent, I thought that the kid from last year was better, I have second thoughts now. Dut can play. Ethan Cooper played great and rebounded well. Those 2 Sophomores for Garrard played fearless and knocked down big shots. 45th District tournament is at Garrard County this year, grab your popcorn because every game will be a war.

Shot Selection with time and score of the game is one of those hidden things in basketball that will bite you a lot of times.  Have you worked those situations in practice?  Do you have a solid delay game in?  All factors when the game is tight and on the line...

Garrard played a 1-3-1 in the first half and then came out in a 2-3 in the second half. Both zones were ran very well. Emphasis was on stepping to Boyd quickly and they did a good job limiting him overall. Dut was a menace against the zone because of his attack first mentality and the quickness he possesses to get in between pieces of the zone. He drew a lot of fouls and got Ayiei some really easy looks. But overall, Garrard just played tougher. Cooper did a tremendous job guarding the 7 footer Ayiei at times when Sulla needed a breather.

Last point on this game---For DCA, they're stepping into a new role this year.  They've been the hunter (and emerged as a surprise last season), and they're now the "hunted" as one of the favorites.  They looked tight to me at the end of the game, and that's a credit to Garrard staying the course.  But, also when you come off a big win against Evangel Christian you have to refocus and know you're squarely a target in your district/region now.

That was the best version of Ethan Cooper I have seen. He didn't force anything, took great shots and knocked down most of them. He distributed the ball well and got after it defensively. He looked the part of a 12th region POY, at least for this game.

When you're up 10 with 4:30 left, and no shot clock you need to take a page out of Jeff Jackson's book and take the air out.  Especially, when a team is zoning you.  Layups and FTs, and go home and put the kids to bed! lol.

I agree 100% but just wanted to remind everyone that that almost costed Lincoln against West Tuesday night. Lincoln was up around 16 points and to start the 4th quarter they began their "delay". West roared back and Lincoln barely survived. If DCA had taken the air out, though, I agree they probably get the win last night.
