Scott 75 Boone County 61

Taking nothing away from Scott, their kids played to great ballgame, Boone's head coach pulled all five starters before the end of the 1st qtr and they did not play the 2nd qtr at all. Boone has a very talented group of players, but the head coach needs to make better decisions in my opinion. Boone was only down 8pts when he pulled the starters, looks like he already gave up on his team in the 1st qtr. I understand wanting to send a message to your players, but I think this was a very negative approach IMO.

I've got a different recollection of these events--He did pull the starters a few minutes into the 2nd quarter, and it was because they were playing so bad and were down aboout 15!! The 2nd string played more competitively but weren't able to cut into the lead. If the first string had stayed in, Quigley might have scored 40 by halftime, and he didn't make a shot over two feet!! Horrible transition defense by Boone!! Scott looked good, ran the ball well, but fortunately for Boone didn't shoot very well (other than Quigley's layups) in the first half. Nate Sharp looked particularly good running the club, and had to have double digit assists!!

Had to come home and look at Boone's schedule to realize how they had won so many games (13-3 coming into the game)?? McFarland had a pretty good game for Boone, and has a great upside. Didn't see much "D" on either side, as both clubs looked to hurry to the other end and score--Scott did a much better job of it and as stated above, absolutely toasted the Boone press!!

I agree with you BGGreen about Boone's starters coming out for about 2-4 minutes in the 2nd quarter and already were getting beat pretty badly.

Sharp did a great job of passing. Ryne Smith continues to impress me with his shooting and I must say that I was so impressed by the rebounding and hustle of Kenny Felts and Danny Miller.

Good win for the Eagles.

Box score shows a pretty balanced attack for Scott. If they can get offensive contributions from Miller, Felts & Smith then that opens things up for Quigley and Sharp.

Quigley and Sharp are definitely the go to guys on the team but Miller, Felts & Smith play extremely hard every night. I don;t think other teams are prepared for the intensity level Scott brings on every possession.

I agree with your post, but I thought Scott played great "D" last night. Honestly, in the first half alone, they must have recorded 15-18 steals. That is flat out playing defense. They are extremely quick to the ball, much more than Boone was.

Was at the game till towards the end of the third when scott was up 20. Scott has improved leaps and bounds since the begining of the season, there defense was amazing leading to many transition buckets. Sharp is playing amazing running about as good of point as I have seen at Scott in a while. Scott will be a sleeper in the 10th region tourament. Was disappointed to see Tyler Baker still in street clothes, any updates on his transfer to Scott. Side note, the J.V game was a thriller with Scott pulling it out in overtime i believe 54-51. Jordan Adkins played a heck of a point for the J.V eagles finding open teammates, was impressed with 35 for Boone's J.V.

Agreed on the jv game. Very exciting. Scott was up fairly well in the second half, but had to hang on for their lives as BC came on strong. Great win for the young Eagles...

High scorer for Boone was #31 (Flannery) with 16 points, 13 of them in the final quarter. Boone was at the line with a chance to win it in regulation, but it didn't fall. One of Boone's starting guards (both are freshman) is out at least until early to mid-February with an injury. They were 4-0 before his injury and are 2-2 since then.

Heres my take

I disagree with you saying that Scott didnt play much defense. Scott played very intense DEFENSE the first half and held a 43-21 lead at the

intermission. I would say Boone had at least 15 turnovers the first half do to Scotts intensity on the ball and getting deflections in the gaps. Of course they gave up too many points in the 4TH quarter (26).

Boone hit some tough shots and Scott was very fatigued. Lets give Scott some credit, they attacked Boone and were very prepared for the game.

Boone is a very good team and were beaten soundly by a determined Scott team.

Also,Scott didnt shoot the particularly well early but found their range after the first quarter.Ryne Smith hit 4 big three's in the 2nd half.Nate Sharp looked super in running the offense.Quigley got to the rim at will. The Miller and Felts kids were solid and both had numerous rebounds.Overall for not having a dog in this fight I thought this was an impressive win for the Eagles.

Looks like the 37th may be the deepest district out of the 8th, 9th or 10th.

Pretty much what I said if you read my entire post?? Scott didn't shoot near as well as they normally do in the first half, or it would have been uglier. Scott did force some turnovers, but were given several more by what appeared to me to be an out-of-control Boone team. Also remember Boone's PG Ben Ryan was playing hs first game back from injury, and hadn't practiced much. Sharp looked very impressive running the club, and they also hit the boards better than advertised. I agree they will be a major factor in the district and a sleeper if they make regionals. I've been saying they should be ranked #4 in the 10th region, and I'm more convinced after this victory. They have a great opportunity to take command of the 37th next Tuesday!!

I'd think that distinction goes to the 35th with arguably the top three teams in the 9th region?? The 37th would appear to be a two horse race between Brossart and Scott, although Campbell hasn't played Scott yet, and the Grove with Pelle is always tough and capable of an upset or two!!

agreed. Scott played The Austrilain national team and were up 62-32 2 minutes in the third before i left. The austrilians are very physical and the coach got tossed in the 1st quarter.

Sharp had a monster game tonight with 27 points(5 3pts) and at least 8-10 assists against the Australian team.

Scott does not play another game until next week's big match-up with Brossart. This should give them sometime to rest their legs.

Nate's been really playing well!! What was the final of this game? Anyone know who else they play in the area?

Mustang, where you in attendance tonight for this game?
No, I didn't make it to the Scott-Boone game, but I'm sure we were represented.
