Lincoln County's Tremane Alcorn will be the front runner to be POY.  He's the best player on their team, and should have a great year for the returning Final 4 team.  I do think Pulaski County's Cayden Lancaster and Casey County's Ethan Willoughby are in the conversation, and will both put up huge statistics.  Lincoln Co. is the favorite to repeat, and host the regional tournament this season.  There are a host of teams that can make a run if they get hot at the right time.

I'll add my two dark horses to either win the region (or atleast make a deep run).  These teams are outside of typical Lincoln, Boyle and Pulaski Co.  West Jessamine has all the pieces IMO, and always play a difficult schedule to prepare themselves.  Danville Christian has a great blend of talent/experience, and maybe the highest ceiling.  Their task is more difficult though because they will have to get out of a very difficult 45th district.  

Lincoln is definitely the front runner for a repeat year and has the talent to make the run. Losing floor general Jaxon Smith makes a huge impact so the task will be a little more daunting but very realistic. I agree Alcorn has a high ceiling and could very likely achieve player of the year. Kyle Stephens and Jaylen Dunn are other players that need big impact years to make the list.

My surprise teams this year is:

1 Danville with more experience and addition of Barnes

2 Wayne Co with Coach Woods and more experience

3 Somerset with Bruner leading the youth in the briar patch

Teams we are still waiting to make a move Danville Christian and McCreary Central. Both teams have potential but can't seem to find the right recipe for a huge run. Kyle Stephens is a very solid player for MC and Lual Ayiei from DCA is talented and the biggest rim protector in the region right at 7'.

Would love to see Mr. Basketball Finalist from this region but the parity of talent on these teams cuts the scoring down and that limits some of these kids numbers. 

Should be a very interesting tourney as usual for the 12th.

I always feel like West Jessamine is capable of making a run. They're never fancy but always solid and always a tough out in the postseason.

Geographically, they have an advantage being able to choose to play the 11th region schools which beefs up their SOS.  They take some lumps, but in the end it builds their DNA to be a tough out.

Emmanuel Dut for DCA could turn some heads as he is widely unknown.

Maybe not a huge surprise, but I believe Somerset will advance to the Region tournament this year, and will also contend for the All A region.

Ryan is underrated as a coach. He had competitive teams at GC, in the toughest district, with low talent.(save Sebastian) Dunbar left the cupboard just about empty when he bolted for Southwestern, and Young had those boys competing last year. 

Lincoln is a step better than a handful of teams on paper, as well as what they have returning on the court. Beating them on their homecourt to win a region will be a tall order for sure. 

Darkhorse:

Wayne County. I believe they returned just about all of the contributors off last year's team that led Pulaski at Pulaski in the 4th quarter opening rd. of Region. I wouldn't want to play this team late.

I agree, they do play a few teams in the 11th every season along with the tough  holiday tourney they are usually in each year, that does strengthen them heading into post season. The past 2 seasons they have been short handed for most the season and all of the post season with their big man Gavin Salva being injured , but he’s expected to be close to full strength by start of season, then they have Daniel Waters and Brett Bush who can both light it up, then Drew Marshall who can get to the rim whenever he wants and rebounds really good for a guard, and Jacob Jones might play which his athleticism alone could be the difference maker in a lot of games for West. I think they have the potential and coaching staff to make a run this year , but it’s always tough in the 12th.

I should've had Wayne in there as a darkhorse, but to me they're traditional power with a legend coach.  They're right there with the top teams with the talent they return.

That's scary if the Dut kid for DCA is similar or better to what the wing gave them last season.

I've watched Dut play and he's nowhere near as good as the kid they had last year. He's very athletic but plays out of control.

Xavy was a bull last year in the paint.  Maybe the Warriors will play more uptempo with Boyd running the Point, Athletic Rim runner and Wing!

This quote won’t age well. 

Story has done a good job at DCA and they are primed to make a move. I feel like they have the opportunity to move past Garrard this year with the loss of Quisenberry. Sounds like Dut has a high ceiling and Story n staff will find ways to utilize his ability.

I was very impressed with Coach Young last season.  Somerset was very young and often outmanned.  But you could tell that his players were well coached.  They ran their offense and played hard.  They were just very young.  I think they'll be much improved this season.
