The last 4 or 5 years at least the state went to District play the first 2 rounds so they would always meet in the 1st or 2nd round. So there is like an elite 8 where they re rack them and match them up based on ratings? 8v1, 7v2, 6v3, 5v4?  
 

So why couldn’t Cov Cath and Highlands meet in the finals?

They ultimately divide it into East vs. West. So in that bracket you posted, the top half (Districts 1-4) is the West and the bottom half (Districts 5-8) is the East. I personally like the idea of doing it 1-8 instead of East vs. West. As of today, 8 out of the top 10 in the RPI are in the East bracket.

Yeah but the two in the west are BG and SW right? They’re both top 3 in my opinion. 

This playoff speculation and bracket structure talk could  probably be it’s own thread.

 RPI gets done again in round 4 statewide with the 4 teams that are left in the playoffs. It is possible Highlands could meet Covington Catholic in the state championship, depending on RPI.

I think everyone is forgetting what put CovCath in this position in the first place. Back to back false starts put this scenario into full swing… no pun intended.
