St. X didn't have any high rated recruits when won championship last year. I think high ranked recruits is overrated unless have several of them unless at a key position like QB or RB that could take over a game.

I don't know what you consider highly ranked, but Noah Meyers (TE) has an offer from WKU and Brady McEnany (DB) has a lot of interest from D1 FBS programs.  To me, if you're good enough to get attention and offers from FBS programs, then I would consider that to be highly ranked.  I'm not sure about the rest of the team however.

With that said, 5 Louisville teams comprising the Top 5 is a solid assessment.  I don't know the order, but those 5 are the ones that should be there for the time being.

Still struggling to comprehend the Ballard/Male outcome.  Does it say more about Ballard or Male?

I think a little bit of both honestly.  I said in a previous thread about Male's schedule that the possibility of them losing 3 or 4 regular season games this year was a very real possibility and I still believe that.  I don't think they're as strong as they usually are, but they're always well coached and they have solid football players.  As for Ballard, I've seen them in person and they have a bunch of athletes all over the field.  However, that defense won't carry them all year.  I saw Bullitt East put up 35 points on them through 3 quarters and did it with ease.  They will have to find some offense, but their problem is their offense has no identity.  They do a little bit of everything, but need to start playing to their strength, which is their athletes.  Go let them make plays.

Trinity (10-0) SK lost 49-17

SK was 11-2 this year, FWIW.

I personally think NKY is way down this year and SK will be reaping the rewards with having a solid, experienced team. Better take advantage while you can!

Let's be honest, all the talent that is able, is funneled to the Big Three. Yeah, the next tier of teams beneath them is Manual, Ballard and maybe CAL...

They have some players, but the little league stars are all being courted by the big three, and capable parents will figure out a way to get their kids enrolled.

 

Louisville Central football has been affected by DuBois as well.

You have to give to him, he bleeds SK blue. I tend to agree 6A is down in NKY this year and SK will most likely benefit from that. I think they are much improved but it’s not like SK didn’t already have a good offense. And their line was big last year too. I think they are potentially a top ten from a small sample size, but they still have to get through their own district and we know Ryle and Dixie are not going to roll over. Those are always tough physical games by teams that are well coached. Not to leave out the Campbell County squad, I just don’t know much about them.
