January 1, 200719 yr I am one that thinks that Fulmer's time has come as well.....I have met him twice, and he seems like a great guy, BUT, their program has become stagnant.
January 1, 200719 yr Hangman, we also had no coach and we lost on a last second field goal, but you are right "we were not very good this year"...Thats why we had no coach. I don't dislike 'Bama... Just saying.
January 2, 200719 yr It is always good to see Paterno get a win. ...and to see Rocky Flop get beat.:ylsuper:
January 2, 200719 yr ...and to see Rocky Flop get beat.:ylsuper:  That's alway's a good thing. It must be those ugly Orange jerseys.
January 2, 200719 yr How can those slow guys from the big 10 pull off yet another win over this speed conference?
January 2, 200719 yr How can those slow guys from the big 10 pull off yet another win over this speed conference? I haven't seen PSU play this year, but the commentators were amazed by the performance. Sounds like they played their best game of the year, and UT gave it away with turnovers. Good win by PSU no doubt, but I really hope thats not your argument for the Big10 being better than the SEC. UT was 5th in the SEC and played poorly. PSU was 4th in the Big10 and by all accounts played above themselves.
January 2, 200719 yr All I am saying is every year everyone heard all about the speed and how the Big ten winn not be able to deal with it even win the Big Ten post win after win after win. Penn State was not very good this season and they still beat Tenn, Who wasn't very good either.
January 2, 200719 yr UT has gotten stale. Firing Fulmer might be an option. They had some injuries, but their offense has really bogged down especially late in the year. Many thought it was juggling of QB's or even Randy Sanders. Something is missing there. I agree. Very similar situation to Tubby IMO. Both won a title in '98. Both have very respectable winnning %. Both had very down years last year. Both seem to be missing something to get them back into the title hunt. As for Fulmer, he could very well redeem himself next year. This year they lost to Florida by 1, LSU by 4 with Ainge out, and Arkansas by 17 with Ainge out. They also played without Johnson and Harrell, two of their top defenders, for all but 2 games. Hard to fire him given the circumstances, but he needs a very solid year next year.
January 2, 200719 yr Poor showing by the Vols. Tennessee needed the big play and Penn State made it instead. Great win for the Knittany Lions. Old doesnt mean done, Yoter
January 2, 200719 yr Phil has to get a grip on the off-field, off-season issues as well. He does an OK job football wise with the help of Cutcliffe. But lots of UT fans are getting pretty tired of putting up with the crime wave without any titles.

Penn St. has always looked well prepared in bowl games(a sign of good coaching)and UT often has not, so this outcome did not surprise me much.
January 2, 200719 yr  That's alway's a good thing. It must be those ugly Orange jerseys. I wish you guys would not type so loadly, I am trying to observe a moment of silence for my Vols. Rocky flop? I did not want to get into this, but 6 National titles. come on.

You must be counting the Knoxville News Sentinel Poll. According to the NCAA Tennessee was National Champs in 1951 and 1998. Caz Walker's Food Store's/Wampler's National Champs only counts in Tennessee. Look it up. If you want to count every team that claimed a title, UK claimed a share in 51 also.
