He didn't graduate May 2021. He graduated in October 2021, just before the start of the NBA season. Obviously done to try and be eligible for the draft, and it appears to have worked. He graduated from a private school, one of those situations that raises eyebrows because of the uniqueness of it all. After what the NCAA did to Cal in the Derrick Rose situation, I don't blame him at all for being cautious playing Sharpe.

Sharpe is No. 6 in ESPN's NBA draft rankings.

A representative of Sharpe's high school, Dream City Christian (Arizona), confirmed to ESPN's Jonathan Givony on Thursday that Sharpe graduated in May 2021. His diploma is expected to be sent to the NBA league office this week, which would clear the way for him to be added to the draft early-entry list.

I know that's the story out there today, but then why was he in school still through like October?

Its just really strange and I don't blame Calipari and the UK Compliance Office for not wanting to go down that road again.  Something just doesn't quite smell right with all of this.

Could have easily been a situation like Ky. that allowed kids to repeat due to Covid.  Its just right now nobody in this situation is very believable and since he never played it does not matter.  IF he would have played any at UK then I think its a much bigger mess.  Coach Cal may indeed have not felt comfortable playing him for these reasons......or maybe not.

The thing that I haven't really seen anyone important talk about, his mentor Dwayne Washington is also an Executive of UPLAY and I'd think that bridge is about all but burnt, or should be after this whole thing. Notable players from UPLAY:

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, RJ Barrett, Caleb Houstan (five star recruit that played for Michigan), Sharpe, and a new name that UK fans have been hearing Leonard Miller (but he probably goes G League).

I definitely thought about the COVID angle, but if the goal is the NBA and making millions, why go back to school and delay that process beginning if you're a top stud like him?  Doesn't make a lot of sense.

Definitely with you on the rest of it.  The risk of jeopardizing the whole season wasn't worth it, but maybe was in retrospect after losing to a 15 seed.  I bet Cal was willing to maybe roll the dice but the Compliance Office said, hell no, under the circumstances and so Cal ate the bullet.  But our luck if he played, it would have all been vacated cause of this guy.

I guess the wildest thing that I don't understand is how do go graduate from high school and then go back to the school the next year and attend class and play basketball.   I'd guess schools wouldn't just allow any other graduate to continue taking classes. If so what's the cut off.  Can I give Spanish III another try.  I'd like to think I'd do better this time.
